If i purchase this, would i leave the volume knob on my presonus eris 3.5's all the way up? and if i did that would it stop them from hissing?

This hissing probably comes from them being all the way up. Would recommend a video on gain structure. Ideally you wanna be at 12 o clock, nothing past 3.

I would like to use this with active speakers... Will using this damage speakers that have built-in amp?

No, it makes things simpler actually

The mute buttom also mutes the aux out/phones?

Mutes everything, yes, subs included.

is this a good way to use my headphones with a subwoofer? I want to plug the headphones into the speaker out and have a sub put bass in the room.

Works fine. I have a set of studio monitor speakers plugged into the headphone jack. Subwoofer fires just fine.
