What I received was a carded brand called CAL-HAWK 6-12 Volt In-line ignition/spark tester. Made in China product. Looks like what is pictured on the Amazon site. Basically when you put it inline with your existing spark plug on say your lawn mower, it will not turn over your engine while you have this on, so don't expect your lawn mower to turn on running and that this would be some sort of glowing blinking, what it will do is that it will cause the light bulb in the unit glow when you pull on the pull cord each time. Its a somewhat weak glow but noticeable in the evening or in the dark. So you need to make sure you pull and tape down the mower break lever and pull your cord where you can also see the glow of the bulb, unless you have someone else pull the pull cord and you are standing close by watching this tester.

This item helped me diagnose a rough running V-twin lawn tractor engine. I had already replaced the fuel system components and the spark plugs. I neighbor backyard mechanic suggested I check the spark plugs for spark by removing them and grounding them and examining the spark. That sounded undesirable to me, so I found this item. It is simple to use, just install it inline between the spark plug wire and the spark plug. It clearly showed me which cylinder was misfiring, and an easy coil change fixed the issue. It is a great item every engine home mechanic should have! The quality is very good and the price under $10 makes this a bargain. Highly recommended!

I used this to test old engine to see if it had spark. These old eyes need a little help.

This tool only works on spark plugs that have the" nipple" if the spark plug just has the threaded end like many small engine plugs, do, you cannot use it on that type. It seems to me a huge oversight.
