Can this detect acetylene? I didn’t see it listed.

Acetylene and CO read 1 for 1 on a CO meter. If there’s 30ppm of acetylene, your meter will read 30ppm of CO. This is true for all CO meters.

Does it detect on its own 24/7 or only when I decide to check? Need it for camping in inter.

It detects only when it is turned on. I purchased mine to check the boat motor.

Today, it was turned off and suddenly started a steady alert tone. Had to remove batteries to stop. Why? Can't find a manual.

My alarm never went off if it was turned off. The fire dept told me to always start outside. The reading should always be 0. So go outside and start new. Put batteries in out there. Turn it off, then turn it on to make it recalibrate in a place you know has no Co. If it happens outside, in fresh air, I think it is broken. But give it a chance to recalibrate itself. It should read 0. Then go inside. But it should never go on if it is turned off .
