My granddaughter (7 years old) has problems with fine motor skills....would this be too difficult for her to maneuver?

I don't think it would be too difficult. My 7 year old granddaughter loved it. She mastered the tricks in minutes. If you can work with her till she gets how they work I think she would be fine. Have fun. One of the easiest, funnest, well made sets out there.

Which is better, the hocus pocus version or the abracadabra version?

I only can speak to abracadabra version. This is a great magic set. Bought 2 for my grand children. All but one trick they were able to do on their own and fool us adults. They are 6 and 7. Definitely recommend abracadabra
