Very sharp knife. it is a good choice and a nice addition to my kitchen tools. This is a thin knife and will cut tomatoes with a clean cut .

I am on my 3rd. Lost the first one in a break-up (i got the 8" chef knife). Lost another in gear or at work. Picking up my 3rd, I was very happy to see it again. I prefer this for most tasks in the kitchen. I'll bring this with me if I am cooking elsewhere just in case the knives in other peoples kitchens are unworkably dull (which I find is very common). For me, this little chef knife is the perfect thing to take camping, rafting, or as a backup if you are helping cook outside of your normal kitchen. The cover makes sure I don't have to worry about my raft or inflatable kayak getting punctured. It fits incredibly well in the standard 50 cal ammo cans we tend to use for personal effects while working commercially on the river, while leaving plenty of room for snacks, digital devices, sunscreen, first aid, and other things we would back in that container. Best of all, if it goes missing, you are only out about $10. It is smaller than your typical chef knife, but I think this actually makes it nimble enough to do most tasks well. The rocker helps with quick chopping and mincing. The blade is thin, but sturdy enough to not bend out of shape. I've fileted fish with this, sliced through reasonably large roasts off a spit or out of a dutch oven, and use this for most purposes. It does well for general cooking tasks. The carbon steel helps it keep a good edge if maintained and honed regularly. The blade coating keeps corrosion from being an issue. If you keep it in the sleeve when washed, this helps the blade from getting nicked in the drawer. I do not think this would be a good knife for working with large cuts (butchering). I also don't think this would be my choice for field dressing as the plastic handle would make grip hard to maintain and the knife is too broad. The handle isn't uncomfortable and fits well in the hand. I have had a callous develop on my index finger from the tang on the larger 8" chef knives of this type, but never with this specific knife. The plastic could be better, but for this price point I think it is one of the best knives for all purpose cooking.
