We all need a bit of angst with our beautiful romance, yeah? Well you won't be disappointed with this then! Beautifully written this is a gorgeous love story that lifts your soul one minute and shakes you to the core the next - but then you wouldn't enjoy the HEA half as much without it! Witty, funny and extremely poignant this is a great read I can't recommend enough. 💥💗😍

After the incredibly disappointing Just One Year, I was tempted to bypass this. But glad I didn't. It's hard to believe it is the same author. This is a lovely tale of a romance built on a real connection and deep friendship. Plus the addition of the most adorable little girl. Was heart warming and also believable. The day that Deacon looked after Sunny was spot on! There is a little angst thrown in but nothing too dramatic or heartwrenching. Overall a very sweet read.

Another delightful storyline from this talented author. The subject material is sensitivity covered and beautifully described. The two main characters Deacon and Carys are so wonderfully depicted. There is tragedy, humour, drama, and romance in the easy flowing story. The description of all the individual characters are so believable. The readers appetite is constantly rewarded and fulfilled that unfortunately the ending comes far to soon. Carys is a young lady that has a wonderful daughter called Sunny. We meet them first when Sunny is 6 months old. Deacon is a guy that lives in a flat next to Carys and Sunny, and the three meet by chance. What continues is a pleasure to read. The ups and downs of everyday life portrayed through the words on the page. An excellent novel by a phenomenal author. A stand-alone well worth purchasing.

This book was good, it was written well but the other women were just a complete put off. Didnt really like deacon much either. Sunny seemed like a cutie though .

The Anti-boyfriend is the story of Deacon, Carys (Like Paris) and of course not forgetting Sunny! This is another great book from Penelope. It's a bit of a rollercoaster with it's twists and turns and not knowing exactly what is going to happen with the MC's. Well written as usual and totally recommended.

This was such an amazing, realistic read! Loveable characters, brilliant, believable pacing and such maturity. I adored the characters' behaviour and attitude towards Sunny. That might sound weird, but once you read the book you'll understand. I think it's right that people go into it with no expectation and discover what's what for themselves as it reaffirms that the general assumptions we make about characters (and people in general!) aren't needed and don't actually matter. It's such a pleasant and realistic representation. I loved the characters and even found myself respecting one particular character later on in the book, who at first I didn't think was worth it. Again, this just added so much pleasant realness to these characters and it was beautiful! Usually, everything and everyone is about constant drama or the plot only being the way it is to fuel hate or add shock value, but this was so so enjoyable and mature. The romance and slow burn of Deacon and Carys' relationship was hot! This has definitely been one of my favourite reads of 2020 and I know for sure I'll be re-reading it many times. Penelope Ward is such a talented author and I know she'll always bring her A game to her novels. Simply amazing! 💜

This is one of those books where you catch yourself smiling. An absolutely amazing and heartwarming story in which Sunny comes across as the most adorable little girl! The only reason this wasn't a 5 star is because it didn't have a lot of depth to it, but is the absolute perfect light read.

I engaged instantly with Deacon and Carys and quickly became invested in them and the leading lady, the delightful Sunny. She was written perfectly. We learn early on about Carys’ past but only later is Deacon’s revealed. The story was beautifully crafted, an easy read but with some surprises. Penny certainly kept me hooked. It’s been a long time since I was so absorbed in a book that I read it in a day!

I never quite knew how this book was going to end and I loved that. The characters are complex and rich with detail. The story is heartfelt and will make you laugh and cry. I felt the story is realistic in that the events that occurred were painful at times but led to a happier ending than it would have been without the trials. I listened to the audible version and loved the voice actors. They brought so much life to the story.

I love it, really! That’s nothing you can say that will change my opinion! Every book Penelope writes are amazing! And I love single moms books and with a hottie next dor, just made my day! Their chemistry are off charts, their friendship are beautiful and seeing him fall in love with her baby made me swoon!!

Ea iat eine Geschichte aus dem wahren Leben, ich kenne echt genug Leute die mit dem Nachbarn was angefangen haben und es am Anfang nur ,,Freundschaft,, aus einigen ist es tatsächlich was geworden aus den anderen....., so ist das leben.

J'ai aimé ce livre de la première à la dernière ligne ! Le résumé me tentait déjà énormément, je suis hyper friande des histoires entre voisins. Mais l'histoire ne se résume pas à ça. Chaque personnage a un vécu touchant, plusieurs thèmes qui me tiennent à coeur sont abordés, et l'histoire est merveilleusement bien écrite. J'ai ri, j'ai eu des papillons dans le ventre, bref, je me suis régalée !

Carys is a single Mom, a former ballerina who lives across from Deacon who works from home and entertains the ladies often and loudly. When Carys confronts him about the noise they strike up a quick and easy friendship. But both of them are hiding their intense attraction to the other. Deacon is also something of a baby whisperer able to get Sunny, Carys's daughter to stop crying by holding her. One night they cross the line and things get complicated. This is a book with a lot of depth beyond the hot and steamy love story. It's about second chances in life and recognizing that they might be better than where you originally planned for.
