It measures 8 inches from top to narrowest point at middle so not sure it would be wide enough at the 6 .5 inches depth. The circumference at 6.5 in height is 21.5 in which means diameter is about 6.3 inches. close! **Q: What is the maximum weight tolerated does the manufacturer state for a person sitting on it?** A: I would not sit on it. It's more like a side table with storage inside. I have it on my deck and it's perfect out there. It's very cute, btw. **Q: Could I fill up with sand to make it heavier so I can leave outdoor without flying away in a windy day? Or will the sand come out through the bottom** A: The bottom does have a top also, found out accidentally. I drilled a whole in the top of half and filled with sand to flow to the bottom half. Placed in pool, let air come out by removing to top lid. After using for extra curricular activities, the bottom lid came off, letting the sand out. So use a waterproof polyurethane adhesive on the bottom lid to keep the bottom life on, and it will work great for the pool. **Q: Can you put this in water?** A: I think so. Water collects, and leaves stains when it dries, etc.They also then aren't really flat enough to put drinks on it etc as a table, aren't strong enough to give confidence as a plant stand or anything else. And it's a bit tippy for a table, OR a stool.Ours is upside down. Yes, it is flat on both ends, but ours appears after some investigation to have one removable end, which is the rounded end, so the stepped end goes down.And the inside of the storage area is oddly shaped, with a sort of spike in the middle, so you can store only loose marbles in there. But then it's top heavy so tries to fall over more.
