ReRack Dishwasher Rack Repair - White 630076

I purchased Plasti Dip ReRack Dishwasher Rack Repair. I notice brown spots in sides of my correll plates so I looked in dishwasher and sure enough rust. I can't afford to replace the rack right now much kess whole dishwasher. So I bought this and followed the directions. I am so glad I went this route. Worked like a dream. Was easy to apply and dried in record time. I did allow more time than it called for just to make extra sure it was completely dry. I will eventually buy new dishwasher it is old but for jow a great product to help keep my dushes ftom getting rust on them. Now to figure out a way to get the rust off my dishes. Definitely worth 10.99. Great value for your money.

Only time will tell how well this product holds up. And....most likely that will end up being a function of how well the area is prepped. I believe the product tells you to just scrape away the rusty portions and apply several coats to the area. I watched several instructional YouTube videos that showed using weak acid (vinegar) to neutralize the rusty areas (I think it converts it to black oxide) before applying. I cut back the damaged vinyl until I got to basically clean/solid wire. Then....I soaked the bottom of the rack (this was a basket from a portable fridge) in vinegar for a day or so. I rinsed everything well and let it dry. I probably applied a good 6 coats or more to the damaged areas. Other than using the little included applicator brush I couldn't figure out any better way to put this stuff on. It goes on like lumpy paint. The coats should be as thin as possible and you should really shake the bottle a while to make sure it's well mixed. Even with that, the product goes on in kind of globs I couldn't really smooth out. It's much better than a rusty rack, and a lot cheaper. I hope it will hold up on my fridge rack but I have my doubts whether or not it would survive the heat and corrosive nature of a dishwasher.

I was skeptical about these types of coatings as I just didn't expect any of them to work. I was pleasantly surprised when I used the ReRack as it works very well. It has been months and the rack repairs are still holding up. I recommend applying this in a well ventilated location as it does have a slight odor. I took the rack outside, did the application, and let it dry for four hours before putting it back in the dishwasher and there was no scent.

This product does work, and it's the only product I could find that can endure the high temperatures it'll be exposed to in a dishwasher, but I'm rating it three stars for these reasons: • The bottle's design is flawed • It is an enormous pain to apply since it's the consistency of cold honey (read below for application tips) The bottle is supposed to have a washer that sits on top of it when you unscrew the lid, but after using two bottles of the stuff on my old dishwasher rack, I can tell you with a reasonable amount of certainty that all that washer is going to do is get stuck in the top of the bottle. You can shake it and shake it and do a special dance hoping it'll fall out of the lid, but odds are most people don't even know a washer is supposed to be there. This washer is crucial for two reasons: A) It scrapes excess goop off of the stem when you remove the brush from the bottle B) It significantly extends the life of the product by shielding it from the air. Because the washer gets stuck in the lid, the product dries out and you're dealing with a frustrating half-dried mess of a product once you're 2/3rds into the bottle. If you're covering 30-40 spots, one bottle used carefully should last for two coats. If you have more than that, you'll need two bottles like I did. Application Tips: 1) Use sandpaper to clean all rust off of your dishwasher. Don't remove any more plastic than you need to remove. If the plastic is bloated or needs to be removed, pliers and possibly a metal file might be in order. Lightly sand the perimeter of the affected area so the product can grip. 2) Clean the metal and surrounding plastic with isopropyl alcohol to remove any remaining rust, dust, or oil from the surface. 3) Shake the bottle hard for a couple of minutes. There is a ball bearing in there that will help mix the solvent in with the substance you're applying 4) Take a big glob of it and liberally apply it, then spread that glob around, ensuring you overlap it with the existing plastic. It's much easier to use the glob method than trying to paint on small sections at once, because it just smears it around. As you're painting, ensure that you circle the metal with the product, even if the spot you're covering is just a single dot of rust. You want to do this so you form a circle around the metal and the product can be self-supporting vs. trying to cling to old plastic material in a single spot. For the dish prongs, paint at least an inch down the prong. 5) For your second coat (and you will want a second coat), you don't have to worry about circling the metal a second time. The product's solvents will soften the top layer of your previous coat enough for it to cling to itself, so you can just paint over only the areas that need thickening, saving you some time/frustration. 6) Let it dry overnight as the instructions dictate. I waited two days to be sure that the product had fully cured. It took me hours and hours of work, but I can now use my dishwasher without it putting tons of rust spots on my plates. I've already run a load of dishes and it looks completely unaffected. It seems to work great, but man is it a nightmare to apply! I probably spent 6-8 hours prepping and applying this stuff when it was all said and done.

I noticed rust on my silverware so I used this product and caps for the tines and I no longer get rust on my silverware. Great product. I suggest watching a u-tube video first and follow their steps.

Since I've just used this product, my review will be based on that only...I will update after we have gone through some wash cycles to see how the product performs under stress. I followed the mfr's instructions to a tee. Since there were flammability precautions to observe, I worked on this project outside. It is pretty stinky and a heavy solvent odor! I liked how the product applied with the applicator included inside the jar. Thick enough not to drip and adhered well to all of the surfaces I "painted" with the product. I applied at least 4 coats to the affected parts of the dishwasher rack and allowed at least 30 mins in between coats. Overlapped on the existing coatings as instructed. With the exception of a few spots on my hands...there was no clean-up. I hung the rack outside overnight to allow for a full cure so there would be no smell in our home. That's it for now...I'll be back with an update.... Updated 3/11/24...Finally filled the dishwasher and ran the 1st cycle after using the product. Rerack held up well to that 1st cycle and seemed to be able to withstand the interior dishwasher environment, which we're told can be pretty demanding with the cleaning chems and water heat, plus we're on well water which has it's own set of standards to add to that environment!

Works great to cover scratches in dishwasher tray. Costly. But considering the cost of replacing the tray, this has to be beared.
