Nice remote, uses a USB charge
I bought two of these to replace older models, one that had stopped working altogether and one where some of the buttons had worn down and had become harder to maneuever. So far so good! I like the fact that it has a headphone/earbud jack (not all of the Roku remotes do). It also has a better voice activation alternative (plus there's a switch on the side where you can turn that feature on and off). There are also 2 customizable buttons that you can use to save your favorite apps/streaming services for faster access. One really big difference from my previous remotes is that it charges via USB. In other words, no batteries; you have to plug the included USB cable to a charger. I think I may have to get a bit used to this. I'm so used to changing the batteries on Roku remotes but now I have to remember to plug it in. So far, I've had to do it once when I let the charge use up and I've noticed it takes quite a while (hours) to reach a full charge. You can still use it while it's plugged in but it's definitely a slower process than swapping in new batteries. So, like your cell phone, you may want to keep an eye on the charge level and recharge before it gets too low.

Very good investment.
You wouldn’t believe how much my child misplaces my remote and this remote finder helps so much. My son lost my original remote and it literally just got found two months later. Now I did have some issues with my first I purchase from another big brand store which ended up being cheaper on here anyways. That one just stopped working after a week but I still loved all the functions and capabilities it had. So I decided nope I’m buying my next one from off Amazon and I would’ve the first time but they had sold so much I would’ve needed to wait like a week to get it. Well by the time the first one I got messed up they had them in stock and I jumped on it. It’s been so wonderful I just love this remote I can’t tell you how many times it’s been misplaced by my 5 year old and it’s found in seconds instead of having to look forever to find it. I love Roku period and Amazon lol put them two together and it’s perfect all around next day shipping for prime customer which I recommend getting prime if you don’t have it. You wouldn’t believe the stuff that doesn’t show up for people who don’t have prime you’re missing out on a lot. You’re limited to what you can buy. Heck there may be limits to see this or even get it faster. This Roku voice pro remote is perfect you can record your voice so it recognizes your demands you have 2 buttons labeled #1 & #2 you can download your favorite channels that you watch the most so you don’t have to scroll down the list to find it or have to hold the star to rearrange you show packages to the top which takes forever just to get to them. And great thing is you can change them anytime. It works your tv turning controls which turns on and off the tv and even up and down on the volume. You can just say hey Roku open NetFlix or YouTube and it will if you have more than 2 favorite movie channels. It makes it very simple. If your laying in the bad with your parter and they have work early and you may be off or the babies asleep and you don’t want to wake them use the head phone jack. I know exactly how important it is not to wake a child especially a infant while they’re asleep cause you’ll never get any sleep. This gives you that option to enjoy your favorite show without bothering the baby not anyone else. That way you can get the relaxation time you need and catch up on your favorite shows all at the same time. Roku voice pro is a game changer you really can’t go wrong. Don’t listen to any negative ratings you may see cause this remote is top of the line and in my opinion the best one out there. I know that’s just my opinion but I think if you change it up and give it a chance you’d fall in love with it just like I did. Yeah this maybe my second one but I honestly think I got a defective one or something cause my mail carrier had it in a thunder storm on my porch no shelter at all could’ve been a contributing reason. I should’ve just waited to order it from Amazon the first time i even got me a protector case too from Amazon which helps protect it. I haven’t had any issues at all this product was a life saver and it’s helped me so much so don’t second guess buying this product just buy it I promise you won’t be disappointed. And even if you already have remote that came with your Roku box or streaming stick and your worried about setting it up don’t be it was the easiest setup I’ve ever had to do. You can do it just the setting by going to the remote or you can do it with the instructions that comes with it. It doesn’t list you can just go to settle and pair it that way. But honestly with me it popped right up on the screen asking me if I wanted to pair. So don’t miss out on this wonderful feature you really wouldn’t regret it at all. I really hope what I said helps and idk if you have prime or not either. So also consider trying it out a free trial if you don’t like it you cancel anytime but I really doubt you’ll have any issue at all. Sorry to ramble but I think you deserve the very best. I will try my best to give you the very best review rather that’s good or bad. And whichever you choose the choose is yours and yours alone so go head and you make the decision that best fits you.

Needs to be recharged every day, just like your phone
I'm hard of hearing, so I bought this so I could better understand the sound on the TV using the earphone feature. Works great for that, and I'm able to move about the house with the remote in my pocket and earphones plugged into the remote. The battery charge lasts very much depending on how much you use the earphones. In my case the charge is down to 50 to 60 percent at the end of the day. I simply plug in both the remote and my phone to my bedside charger when I go to bed. Full charge on both in the morning. First thing on waking up I turn on the TV and put on the earphones to find out what madness has occurred in the news overnight, all from a warm bed. The voice control works OK, but I seldom use it. Not my generation, I guess. One thing I noticed that was disconcerting at first. Turn off the TV with the remote and the sound through the earphones continues after the TV is powered down.. My assumption is the sound originates from the Roku streaming stick and not the TV. Note that I'm powering the Roku stick from the wall adapter, not from the TV's USB. If I powered it from the TV's USB this likely wouldn't be the case., since the stick's power would disappear when the TV powered down Altogether I'm happy with the remote. It does what I wanted it to do. I don't have a problem with the earphone volume as some others have averred, even though I'm hard of hearing and have to have the volume turned up higher than most; I imagine this has a lot to do with the impedance and sensitivity of the earphones. The rechargeable feature is fine for me; I use a brightly colored silicon cover and due to the extra power consumption with the earphones I'd be removing the cover almost daily to change batteries. If I should run out of battery power I have the old removable battery remote as a standby while charging the earphone remote. Both are enabled and either can be used. Of course I also have the phone APP as a third alternative. Incidentally, We have the Roku streaming stick, the Amazon stick and the Google in our household. I like the Roku far and away the best for its features and especially the user interface.

Two problems
I have purchased several of these and truly enjoy using them. I have two problems. 1. There is a problem with the charging cords--they come loose very easily and often fall out. Then when you go to use the Roku it isn't fully charged and will go dead while you are still watching. The TV still works when the charge is dead, but you can't change a channel or even turn the Roku off without inserting the charging cord into the Roku. This can be a real pain. 2. The sound often goes silent while watching. It does this with Apple wired ear buds and other generic ear buds. Sometimes this is only for a few seconds, and sometimes it lasts quite a while. I then jiggle the cord insertion spot and the cord itself again and again trying to get the sound back on. I have also bought new ear buds and even a new Roku, but the problem always comes back. This really doesn't deserve four stars, but I truly enjoy watching TV this way because I am hard of hearing and the sound is much better than hearing aids.

This! The Holy Grail of ROKU Remotes!
THIS! This is THE Roku Remote to get! Finally! BEST FOR THE NEWER ROKU DEVICES. Having had Roku since 2012 I have gone through many remotes over the years both purchased separately or come with a newer version device. Each one had its pros and cons, and evolved over the years. One thing that had always been available with a new ROKU was the “Private Listening” feature i.e. headphone jack. If I purchased a separate remote that included a headphone jack it was usually about $50. I noticed the in the more recent versions of ROKU this feature was being phased out. Not happy about that. I LOVE the headphone jack because I can turn my crappy sounding TV into stereo and listen to whatever movie as loud as I want without bothering my neighbors. I love the fact that the remotes are RFID which means you don’t need to point it to the TV for them to work. Purchasing a separate remote has always been hit-or-miss (mostly miss). Some wouldn’t pair up properly, some would be missing a feature that would be present in another. All would cost a lot if they had the headphone jacks. All of them were major power hogs and would glitch out on sound if the power went below a certain level. Keeping a COSTCO 100 pack of AA batteries was a necessity because I had to go through them every month or so. Another problem was that every remote had pretty quickly broken the battery cover. It happens so easily; all it takes is one drop on the kitchen floor and you are left with exposed batteries for the rest of the life of the remote. When I realized that ROKU was not going to be including the headphone jack in their newer devices, I decided to get a new remote. I wasn’t expecting to find this one for $30 bucks. I honestly was expecting to be disappointed when I got it because $30 bucks was too low for a “private listening” remote. However, it is a ROKU branded remote and it specifically listed headphone jack. This was all I was really looking at. I didn’t even notice the other features listed. When it came, I was so happily surprised! Not only did it come with a headphone jack, it is –BATTERY FREE! You can charge it on a USB. No batteries to buy and no cover to break! It also CAN BE USED WHILE CHARGING. This remote included ALL THE BEST FEATURES FROM PREVIOUS REMOTES. Power on/off Voice command/search Programmable buttons to turn on/off closed captioning or go to a set channel Did I mention it’s RECHARGABLE! ALSO, it is the only remote that actually makes the remote finder sound. Not even the remote that CAME with the ROKU that had remote finder would make the sound. Oh, and yeah $30. I came back and bought another one.

So much better than the 2nd edition
Tried the 2nd edition of this remote and it was very buggy and the voice button didnt work. This one, however, is excellent. Battery life is great and the "Hey Roku" feature works almost flawlessly. The remote is incredibly easy to set up and very responsive. We are extremely happy with this remote and hope it lasts.

Your remote won't last a year!
Buyer beware! I’m a Roku customer for the last several years. 1 Plan on spending the $30 to replace your remote every year, or less. I’ve gone through multiple devices, they are all the same. Cheaply made with MAJOR design flaws. 2. Power on and off button turns your TV on and off, but not the Roku remote. They will never tell you this. A power button normally runs the entire product, not with Roku. I had to go into the community chat to learn the remote keeps running. The power continues to drain unless you tell it with the mic, Turn of Roku. 3. My latest remote is guessing 7 months old. The desired show just stops 1/4 of the way through and auto unplugs from the headphones feature and auto rewinds your show to the beginning. In essence you start all over again. 4. Put it on pause, it doesn’t hold its place in your show. The cursor will appear to be in the place where you paused your show. Push play see what happens. It rewinds to the beginning of the show again. 5. Unplug the headphones if you want to share the show with others, it auto rewind to the beginning of the show again.. 6. Try turning it off it will go on and off on and off multiple times. Turn off the tv, unplug the headphones and it will turn your tv back on again. We have three of these in our home and we have to have all three plugged into the power continuously because it drains the power due to design flaws. My comments I come to you with 50 years in the broadcast industry and radio on television. I only purchase Roku because they’re the only game in town that has a headphone jack. I’m putting 5 stars in so this review so it hopefully will be read, and not be at the bottom of the pile. Buyer beware.
