I'm totally fine writing and drawing with these on so far... - ...Which brings up my point of praise: because Kevlar is a very non-abrasive material, these don't seem to smudge my pencil marks. Definitely not as easily as my clammy hand tends to, which brings me to... - These don't make my arms sweaty or clammy. I've been wearing them since I opened my package 4 hours ago. The tendons and ligaments in my forearms are wonderfully comfortable They're *not rigid cold* and they're not overly warm. Sleeves don't seem to cause any sort of sweating or clamminess for me. Basically, they fit great, don't inhibit my movement while doing art, keep my arms at a comfortable temperature, lessen the amount of abrasion / smudging while drawing, and could also potentially save me a limb or two in the absurdly unlikely event of getting caught up in a knife fight. Who knows, maybe I'll take up wok-based cooking so as to reap the heat-protective benefits of these bad boys as well. The humans with knives on the other hand would cut right through these as they are level 2 protection not level 5. **Q: how would these hold up in biking in cold NY weather?** A: If a person is riding the bike, fine. These won't bike by themselves though. **Q: But are they comfy? What is the texture like? Terry-like? Wool-ish? Fleece-ish?** A: They are comfy. They are not scratchy like wool. Not so soft like fleece. In between like maybe cotton warm and thick. Too warm for summer **Q: are these fire retardant so a welder could use them??** A: My husband is a welder and he using them and I haven't heard any complaints.
