I LOVE YOU TO DEATH DVD

This movie is older but one of the funniest movies out there. That is why I purchased it. The cast is fabulous with Kevin Kline, Tracy Ullman, Keanu Reeves, River Phoenix, and William Hurt. I highly recommend this film!

This movie is perfectly paced and utterly hilarious! Just when you're loving and hating Joey all at once, up pops two surprises: Keanu Reeves and William Hurt, as burnout would-be killers. From there, the movie rolls like a meatball down a mountain, gaining momentum, getting funnier and funnier, until you realize that you don't care how it ends, because you have been entertained. Relax: the ending's great. The only thing bad about this movie is that it's not on DVD yet. I don't know how much longer I can wait. In the meantime, my VHS copy gets more and more worn every chance I get. I pray for rainy days, so I have an excuse to do no chores and sit down with this movie. It's a giggle fest from start to finish, and Kevin Kline is completely wonderful in it. Joan Plowright is equally wonderful, and her line, "Try for discount," is terrifically repeatable. What a great movie, and great for any age, although there is one very strong word right in the middle (the "P" word) - used for comic relief, but still... I have to mute the tv when my kids are around, and that's a drag. Otherwise, this movie is a real joy. Give it a chance; it's fabulous.

Cute movie.. a little silly but fun to watch...

I remember watching this film as a child and finding it hysterical. Watching it again as an adult, when I am able to catch more of the jokes, made it even more hilarious. The performances are terrific, with Kevin Kline creating one of his funniest characters. He disappears completely into the idiotic, adulterous Joey, and never misses a step with his Italian accent. Tracy Ullman for once plays the straight (wo)man, and proves she has the strength to carry such a task. River Phoenix is wonderfully odd and idiosyncratic, and the fact that he doesn't really fit in works well for his part in the film. Of course the duo of William Hurt and Keanu Reeves is one of the high points of the movie, and it is amazing how watching two morons attempt to even walk and talk can make your day. My favorite character, however, is Joan Plowright's Mama Nadja, who is naively devilish and innocently sadistic... a combo that seems impossible, yet one she manages to pull off beautifully. The fact that the film is based on a true story makes the plot even more uproarious, and I don't think a 5 second span of time elapsed when I wasn't smiling. For light-hearted, ridiculous fun, I highly recommend this film. Enjoy!

Can't believe this was a true story because it was loaded with laughs all through. All the actors were at their best comic level. I can't believe anyone would not laugh, or enjoy, this movie.

This movie is wonderfully cast with stellar performances in every role. Hard to believe it's based on a TRUE story because it's just so remarkably odd in the funniest ways - full of surprises!! Every actor in this ensemble delivers a unique character portrayal outside their normal roles, which is very refreshing, colorfully played and original!! Too many laughs to articulate...but definitely one I wanted to add to my comedy collection and worth watching several times over. Kevin Kline is amazing - but they ALL stepped up to make this a truly spectacular and memorable movie!!! Enjoy!

Esta película de Lawrence Kasdan (escritor de Indiana Jones y de algunas de Star Wars) me parece muy divertida, un humor negro no tan fácil de encontrar en el cine, en donde muestra su talento como guionista jugando con los personajes y sus intenciones. William Hurt y Keanu Reeves sobresalen en esta divertida película.

J'adore ce film sans prétention avec une pléiade d'acteurs : Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, William Hurt, le regretté River Phœnix, Joan Plowright géniale en mamie yougoslave et Keanu Reeves. Il fait partie de mon top 10 des meilleurs films, le jeu des acteurs est très bon de mon point de vue, les dialogues drôles. Avec une galerie de personnages à côté de la plaque :-) Je vous le recommande vivement

この映画について、何が言いたいのかと言うと、リヴァー・フェニックスが、どれ程可愛らしいことか。 という事です。 ワタシはまだ十代、キアヌ・リーヴスのファンで、一生懸命、キアヌの映画を観あさってたその頃は、イカレポンチで内股気味に歩く、キアヌをかわい〜！！と黄色い悲鳴をあげたものでした。 リヴァー・フェニックスも嫌いじゃなかった。 でもキアヌでした。 ところが、オバハンになり、改めて映画を観直してみると、どうでしょう？ 嫁と同じ年齢に、いや、もはや飛び越えてしまっているかも知れないこの年齢で改めて観てみると、年上の姉御肌の女将さんに好意を持って接する、若い男子にキュン♡とするではないですか。 しかも可愛い。 顔が可愛い。 仕草も可愛い。 なぜ、あんな浮気症でちゃらんぽらんな夫を愛し続けるのよ！！ ワタシなら即刻、リヴァー・フェニックスと逃避行だよ！！！ と、身も蓋もない事を考えてしまう位には可愛いのです。 肝心な部分ですが、当然映画としても大変面白いです。 笑えるし、切ないし、サスペンスだし、リヴァー・フェニックスが可愛いし。 1000円程度で好きな映画のDVDが買えるなんて、良い時代になったよなぁ、、、。と、ポチっとしてしまいました。
