Great quality
As always, Jacobs delivers quality. Can confirm this is a direct replacement for the Milwaukee factory chuck on a 0299-20 heavy duty drill. The inside retaining screw is a 3/16โ left hand thread allen. I found it easiest to chuck up a 12mm impact grade allen socket and remove the chuck with an impact. Lefty loosy (normal right hand thread so counter clockwise to remove chuck). Chuck does include complete instructions and they work for this replacement. R

Great chuck
Used this to replace old metal heavy duty Chraftsman drill chuck, I've been fighting g with for years, as no key worked properly. Installed easily using impact drill to remove old chuck. Works great with smooth action.

Nice upgrade. Worth the money
When doing hundreds of holes, my drivers tend to drop the pre-drill bit every 20 holes or so. I wanted at least one driver with a keyed chuck. This fits perfectly. It is heavier, and did change the balance a bit. Jacob's is an established name with quality products. No real comments about that.

Good so far
06/23/2025 These are still made in the USA, at least thats what the packaging says and the key made in Japan. The 2 definitely fit together perfectly. I have yet to find a keyless chuck that doesn't loosen up after a few holes. Hopefully I have better luck than a few others. I'll definitely come back and update my review.

Not any more
Jacobs used to be the company to turn to when you wanted a quality chuck for your drill. I've been using a Jacobs chuck for years on my air drill and have been pleased with the quality. I recently bought three of them for use in a mini lathe that I'm building. The runout on these chucks has me shaking my head in disbelief. When I first built the lathe, I couldn't believe that the problem was in the chucks, after all this is for drills, they have to be precise, right? I guess not. I had a new shaft made at a machine shop and $125 dollars later, found out that there was still major wobble in my lathe. While the first shaft was a problem (threaded rod), We found out that most of the wobble was coming from the chucks. I have (had) one on each end. One for connecting the motor to the shaft, and the other to connect the shaft to a mandrel, and pillow block bearings in between. The elimination of the chuck, and going to a 1/2" coupler instead, took out most of the wobble on the business end of the lathe. The motor end still has a chuck on it, and still has wobble, but that end is not as critical at this point. By eliminating the chuck, I'm not able to use the lathe with much better results. That's saying something when a customer says that getting rid of your product improved their results. So much for Jacobs quality. I guess the executives at the company were more interested in profit margins than customer satisfaction. Guess what their profit margins are going to be when I find a company that still makes a quality chuck at a decent price.

Fitted onto my benchtop drill press. Runs true and works great. Happy with quality and purchase.

The keyless chuck I had before would never hold a drill securely enough to keep from spinning, especially when the drill was just starting to poke through at the far side. Granted, I work mainly in heavy steel and I work my tools hard but the old chuck was such a CONSTANT source of frustration. Now, this new one works so well that I no longer dread drilling holes. My only negative is that I waited so long before buying this. What a HUGE improvement!! A great product!!
