Pricey But Low Power!
Compatibility: Excellent This unit does not seem to be picky and works with my generic SFP+ transceivers Speed: Very Good Switch maxes out at 2.37Gbps with my setup (within 5% of 2.5Gbps) Test: IPerf 3, 2.5G motherboard NIC -(CAT6)> This switch -(Fiber)> 10G switch -(Fiber)> 10G NIC. All cables were patch cable length. Power consumption & temperature: Excellent. This unit is pretty low power and is rated for a max of 5.5w. Being low power, it basically runs at ambient temps. Measured in between the switch and power supply (DC power): Idle, nothing plugged in: 1w Idle, 1 Ethernet plugged in: 1.2w Idle, 1 10G transceiver plugged in: 1.6w Idle, 1 Ethernet & 1 Transceiver: 1.7w Noise: Being a fanless unit, this switch is completely silent. Price: Ok-good This switch is a bit more expensive than the alternatives at $80, but it also uses significantly less power. Setup: It's an unmanaged switch, plug and play Size: 6.3" * 4.3" * 1.0" Not the most compact with the indicators on the side but still small and flat enough to tuck away or put on a rack shelf Overall: Awesome little switch. The backbone of my home network is 10G but there are some parts that are RJ45 and can only run at 2.5G max (redundant motherboard NICs, MoCas, low power NAS, etc). This switch will be an awesome addition for those parts. Would recommend if you're in a similar situation. Other: Adapter comes with Type A, Type J, and Type G adapters. Adapter has several markings including UL and TUV Barrel plug is compatible with 5.5x2.1 center positive plugs Designed in Taiwan (Zyxel is Taiwanese), made in China Edit: This switch works with a generic DAC cable connected to my Mikrotik switch

I highly recommend this unmanaged switch if you need 2.5G ports and a 10G uplink.
The Zyxel XMG-105 has great port capacity, with five 2.5 G ports, and 1 SFP+ 10G port. The item is made of quality metal, not heavy but good weight. No cheap plastic feeling. Great value, as you are getting a switch that comes with a lifetime warranty. It's also fanless, which is extremely nice when I'm listening to music via speakers or open back headphones. No annoying fan noise like the Ubiquiti it replaced. It lives up to the Zyxel's claim of a fanless, noiseless, design. Since it's 10G speed and 2.5G, the switch is fast and you won't be wanting for more speed. It's been reliable in my testing as is Zyxel products in general. Plug and play, no concerns about functionality being poor or complicated. All in all, I highly recommend this unmanaged switch if you need 2.5G ports and a 10G uplink.

Perfect Product
What a great unmanaged switch. I had some issues with my managed switches that were resolved by turning flow control on and I was concerned I would have issues with this one and have no way to enable it. However this switch gets full wire speed on all ports with no modifications to anything! Nice. It's also small and feature packed. I have a 10GB fiber uplink from my core switch and I get full speed on every port I tested. 1ms ping times too. I like how this switch is metal too as you can see from my picture I just jam it in there and pile stuff on top of it :) What a deal for a switch that just works. If your in the market this should be on your short list. It is very nice and made by a reputable company.

Solid feeling 2.5G multigig unmanaged network switch
This is a very nice network switch. It has an entirely metal housing and feels very solid and weighty for its size. There are 5 available 2.5G ports and 1 SPF+ port. I did a series of tests on my PC and received a consistent 1.5 Gbps download and 2.0 Gbps upload which matches what I received before installing this switch. There are two mounting holes on the underside and 2 screws and drywall anchors included in the box. For my setup, I just needed the screws since I have everything mounted on a sheet of plywood. Setup was easy, simply plug in the power supply. The power adapter comes with 3 different plugin types. I never experienced any heating issues as the whole unit remained cool to the touch.

Works great!
This is the little switch that could. I was able to hook up SFP to my bigger switch and branch off to this with zero configuration required. My Unifi management devices immediately identified there was a downstream unmanaged switch and I was good to go from there. It's basically silent, and I like that it's an all metal construction so it naturally dissipates heat! Functions great, has a small form factor, and currently serves as my switch between my NAS systems before branching back into my main network. Plus no weird phoning home activity I've seen!

It's a good switch
It's a good switch. I haven't had any issue with it. Simple to install, runs silent. It does run warm, but that's normal. I think it's a good value and I'd buy it again if I needed one.

Fantastic, compact, 2.5 gig unmanaged switch
I'm very pleased with this unmanaged switch. It's just as you'd expect - set and forget. After plugging it in, it immediately lit up to show power and active network connections from the connected ports. The 2.5 gig and 1 gig connections are accurate and bright, so keep that in mind for your desired location for this switch. It gets a little warm to the touch but nothing shocking, and I appreciate the all metal case to help dissipate the heat and provide good durability. This brand is more affordable than other 2.5 gig switches and gives you a lot of value for the money.
