The hooks have a good coating on them and are also thicker and sturdier than 99% of other straps. Great ratcheting mechanism, operates smooth, releases easy, and very good construction. Most cheapo straps have paper thin metal for the ratchets, but these are incredibly stout. There's cheaper straps out there, but I value my cargo. I'm now a lifetime customer.
