Laurence Juber Plays Lennon & McCartney

Very lovely arrangements of tunes you know so well. Many in DADGAD tuning; if you are unfamiliar with this, here is a golden opportunity to get into it as you are probably already conversant with the melodies. Alternative tunings do not make playing EASIER (these are all intermediate level at least) but allow you to play triads that you just can't finger in standard tuning. Laurence Juber played for Paul McCartney's Wings, so he has authority here.

Nach "Laurence Juber - Popular Songs for Acoustic Guitar" ist "LJ Plays Lennon&McCartney" mein zweites Hal-Leonard Tab-Buch mit dem Marker "Masterclass CD Included". Auch dieses Noten/Tab-Buch ist in der Aufmachung wieder nahezu perfekt: Sauberster und optimal lesbarer Noten- und Tab-Druck mit Nummerierung der Takte, Hinweis-Ziffern für die Finger der linken Griffhand bei schwierigen Passagen und Griffbildern am Stückanfang. Zusammen mit den englischen Erläuterungen des "Gitarrenmeisters" auf der CD, lernt man damit wirklich etwas dazu. Die einzige für mich denkbare Verbesserung wäre das Eindrucken der Griffbilder über den einzelnen Takten und die Angabe der Texte, die hier fehlen. Mit den folgenden 15 Titeln ist das Buch gut gefüllt: Penny Lane (DADGAD),Eleanor Rigby (CGDGAD), Drive My Car (DADGAD), Here There and Everywhere (DADGAD), You Can't Do That (Standard), Blackbird (DADGAD), I Feel Fine (DADGAD), Dear Prudence (DADGAD), When I'm Sixty-Four (Standard), Please Please Me (DADGAD), No Reply (Standard), I Am The Walrus (DADGAD), All I've Got To Do (DADGAD), Michelle (DADGAD), The Long And Winding Road (DADGAD). Etwas schade finde ich, daß der Anteil der OpenTuning Stücke weder aus Buch-Cover noch Beschreibung hervorgeht; ein Anteil von 12 OpenTuning Titeln gegen 3 Stücken in Standard Tuning sollte vom Verlag besser erkennbar gemacht werden. Übrigens sind die Transcriptionen nicht identisch mit denen in "Hal Leonard - Fingerpicking Beatles", auch nicht bei "When I'm Sixty-Four (Standard Tuning)".
