I live in an unorganized township in Maine, between a giant bog and a small river. The mosquitos here are so bad in the summer that I sometimes joke that this is where all of the mosquitos in the state originate from. Most of the summer here the bugs can be so bad that I can't stand to be out in them for very long, it makes being outdoors much harder to enjoy. I've been using one of these nets over a wide brimmed hat for the last month or so when I go outside to work on the yard or tend the garden, anything that keeps me outside for more than just a few minutes during peak bug season, and it has allowed me to stop focusing on the bugs, and focus more on being outside, and on the task at hand. It's been great. I particularly like that the nets are extra baggy - there is an elastic drawstring at the opening of the net, but it doesn't need to be very tight because the extra length at the bottom of the net sort of drapes down from the drawstring, forming a wide contact area with your chest back and shoulders that effectively leaves no open space below the net around your neck to worry about. using it over a wide brimmed hat (I had to get the hat separately, it's not part of the net) helps keep it from touching your face and neck much, so mosquitos and flies that land on the net don't just bite through. I haven't had any issues with anything getting through, not small mosquitos or blackflies. I don't review much on here, but this product's quality for the price was a great value. I bought more than one initially, and they are inexpensive enough that I'm sure I'll buy more of these to have around the house for family and friends to use while they're over, or as a backup in case I misplace or damage the one's I've been using.

This is the best head net. I don't feel like I'm wearing it. Good view. Comfortable, lightweight, easy to use. I bought other head nets that were bothersome . This one is great. It's like not wearing a head net at all. Keeps the biting flies and gnats away from your face and neck. Wear it over a hat.

PROS: Pretty easy to see through despite being black netting. I've worn it at work with sunglasses underneath and I could still do my job. The net easily fits over a wide-brimmed hat, and that keeps the mosquitoes even farther from your face. The cinch at the bottom prevents it from blowing off in the wind. The little pouches are convenient, I'd probably have lost or torn a net if they were just loose. CONS: I paid double what they're selling for now, so that's annoying.

This works with a hat with a 3 inch brim, that is 14 inches diameter all around. It also works with a baseball hat since it balloons enough that it stays away from the skin. Though if the netting ends up touching your skin, the mosquitos will eventually find that area if there are enough of them around. The mesh is ok. Nice and dense, but it also crinkles a lot, or at least came out of the maybe too small stuff sack that way. That's the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. Creases and crinkles look dark when you're looking through the netting, so it is better if there aren't any. I used a garment steamer to fix it. But with the small stuff sack, I'm thinking they might show up again. If the bag were just a little larger, it would be easier to get it in there nicely. I crunched the bottom together, then rolled it up so that the top area ends up being wrapped around the largest diameter. Hopefully that keeps it a bit nicer, at least in the part I look through. But a slightly larger bag would let it relax more. Update: I just took this on a 12 day backpacking trip in Oregon with really aggressive mosquitos in some places, and it made things bearable. I do not like putting repellent above or around my eyes as it always seems to get into my eyes from sweat, so this way the only way to keep them at bay. I kept it in my pocket all the time so the mesh relaxed and it hung nice and clear when I used it. I also found out it is large enough that I could lift up the front and eat or drink, which I hadn't considered until I was out there.

If ya live in the south these are a must....great bug resistance and a spot to still eat and drink food without removing easy to use and has great airflow even in the middle of summer folds easy and works well for the whole family

I bought my head net several years ago and am back to buy a second one. I'm outdoors every day, most of the day--I garden, hike with my dogs, ride my horse, and work in the yard. The black flies are the most irritating, but here in Eastern Massachusetts, the deer flies are such a torment from July to October that I often give up riding. They just make my horse and me too miserable for it to be worth it (they swarm around her, which puts me in the middle of the swarm). However, she wears a mesh neck and head hood, and I have this one so we're back on the trails almost every day of the year. This is great because it fits over my wide-brimmed, straw gardening hat, over my riding helmet, over a billed cap. I've even worn it with no hat, and although it touches my face, it doesn't bother me at all. That's much less annoying than black flies chewing on me or deer flies plugging holes in my skin. As I said, I've had my first one for several years, and it's still in perfect shape; when the insects are really bad, I'll put insect repellent on it as an extra layer of protection, but that doesn't seem to have had any effect (i.e., caused the material to degrade). One will stay at home for gardening and yard work; the other one will stay in the truck that I drive to the barn. No more cursing about having left it behind.

Boy, oh boy, am I glad I purchased this item. The netting keeps mosquitoes away from my face, completely. Sometimes they hover around my head, utterly frustrated (if mosquitoes can feel frustration), and the relief I feel from having the protective netting is wonderful. As someone who gardens, and, therefore, spends a lot of time among those blood-sucking insects, I find this item indispensable. I recommend the netting without reservation! It provides much-needed, and instant, relief from mosquitoes. The price is low, the value for money is incredible.

Got this for when I mow the yard at dusk in the summer and all manner of gnats and flies and bugs would get up in my face causing me to flail about like a man possessed. Now I just throw this bad boy on and hardly even notice the pests as they cover the head net instead of my face. I don't remember what I paid for this, but it was worth it.

I can't tell you how much money I've wasted buying bug nets from local stores that barely fit my head, let alone accommodate a wide brim hat. This head net has been keeping the rapacious mosquitos and other critters out of my face for a couple years now, and accommodates my wide brim hat I wear while hiking. Asides from it's very accommodating size, it's otherwise a pretty typical head net, and I've been using it for a couple years now, routinely out in the bush during bug season.

Good sizing - fits Over my hat easily and has good length. Hubby has had a go and my daughters want one. Working with horses this has been a great investment. Will be buying more.
