If you want to utilize the pink 6th player parts then yes. The Base game has 5 player colors, the first expansion adds a 6th pink color. So if you don't want/care about having a 6th player then you are fine. **Q: Do the Zman expansions work with a Rio Grande original?** A: i have played both and they look and fit the same. **Q: I have the older version of Carcassonne, the art looks different on the front cover, are tiles different too? or will it match up with the old game?** A: Same here.
