They are color coded. Look at the back of your garage door opener (the power unit) it should have a round button and two arrow or triangle shaped buttons. These buttons are color coded. Usually yellow or purple. The811LM remote controls work with the yellow buttons and yellow antenna wire. Worked as described and easy to set up. However, for the amount of material used to manufacture this device, it was far too expensive.
