For that task, I like this long 12 inch with over 1 inch width. For the mower blade, you grab the file's ends with two hands and go 'sideways' across the surfaces of the blade in more of a scrubbing motion. Nicely maintains the original bevel. Nicholson is a long-time maker of quality files.
