Review: Purchased two of the Furman PL-8C units for work, not in the music industry but for clean power in the data collection side of things. So far they have performed very well. Like the rotating lights on both sides of the units with brightness control. Transformer block spacing on the back so not all the plugs are jammed together. There are also two separate banks for power. A red light will glow if you have received a big spike.
Review: This is an exceptional product that worked miracles on my vintage audio gear. I have an older home, and definitely felt like there were some electrical noise/grounding issues. I could hear it in the hum on my preamp's phono stage (I felt maybe it was because I had a newer "ungrounded" turntable, but the same hum was present in a grounded vintage one too). The same phono stage really had an overly-loud pop when switched as well. If playing a record, and something on the same circuit was switched on, I could hear it in the speakers for a millisecond, etc. So I bought this model, largely because it had additional filtering that the cheaper models didn't have, mainly the LIFT tech (whatever that is). As soon as I plugged it in and turned on my preamp (Denon PRA1000), everything was different - it stopped every piece of electrical noise cold, and even cured the overly-loud pop when switching the phono stage (turned it into a much more "normal" sounding pop that's inherent to audio equipment). I am super impressed. Highly recommended if you are into audio.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the advantage of using this over a good, high quality UPS if my power comes completely from a generator?**
A: HelloDoes your generator have a pure sine wave? A sine wave is how AC electricity fluctuates as it cycles. 60 HZ means your electricity updates 60 x per second. Sounds fast and you cannot see it or tell it. But your computer or tv operates in nano seconds (millionth of a second) as it operates or refreshes its screen. So that is a basic explanation. If not, a GOOD power conditioner is very important on electronic devices. It should clean up irregularities in the generator vs line electricity. If I were you I would put a decent conditioner on important electronic devices. Not Monster etc., but a Nice Furman as you are looking at. Don't bother with things that don't cost s lot. Cheap tv's etc. The conditioner costs more than a new tv. I hope this helps you. Larry

**Q: what is bank 1 and bank 2 for? Do I just use it like a regular outlet? I like to protect my pc with this.**
A: Dear Thu,

Per vendor, Bank 1 on that unit is for wall warts, which is why there is so much space in between plugs. Bank 2, is for any equipment that has smaller wall connections.

Best regards,
Alexis

**Q: If i am comparing one of these 2 items, which one i should choose if i am confused? furman pl-8c 15 amp & pl-plus c 15 i will use it with 240v**
A: The PL8C will only work with 120 volts unless the wall wort is rated for 120-240 volts in which you would have to adapt the plug in for the receptacle. I also looked at the pl plus and I believe it is only rated for 120 volts. Is your equipment 220-240 volts if so you will need a conditioner that is rated for 240 volts. They are expensive!!If none of your equipment is 240volts you don't need a conditioner for 240 volts. Just because you hook up a bunch of equipment to the conditioner doesn't mean you need more voltage, it stays the same. But you need to watch how many amps you are pulling if you have a bunch of equipment and are pulling a bunch of power. They are rated at 15 amps, which means you can run 80% or 12 amps continuously through the conditioner and your electrical system (if the circuit is 15 amps). Are you in another another country which uses 240 volt power. If so get a conditioner for 240 volts. It would probably be rated for 20 amps. Hope this helps.

**Q: pst-8? what is the difference between the two? is this any better?**
A: It would help if I knew what a pst-8 is. Guessing power strip of some sort, but don't know the manufacturer. The rackmount conditioner and a power strip are two different things entirely, so figuring out what you want is the first step. Second step is to check the specifications and pick the rackmount or power strip that best suits your needs and budget.
