Have a back up
Just ordered my third pump. Works great til it doesn’t. 1st one burnt itself out trying to self prime and I was not around to notice. 2nd one just quit. I was unplugging it at night to run a brooder heater for babies and when I plugged it back in one morning it just was dead. Only 3 months old too. ***received new pump and discovered it was the plug! So I have a back up pump as long as cord holds out*** 3rd one otw. I’d like any suggestions for an alternative self priming pump.

Sceptical no more.
Worked perfectly for 3 days then died. Update 3-13-17: I returned this item for an exact replacement. The second pump has worked perfectly for over a month. I have it mounted just above a 20plate heat exchanger on my water heater so it pulls water through the exchanger. There is a natural thermal cycling that heats my domestic water via my outdoor wood stove but it was slow so it was still possible to run out of hot water if laundry and kid's bath and my shower were all done within a couple hours. Now we truly have endless hot water. This little pump works at about 2gpm and is very quiet.

Don't waste your time
Been through about six of them in two months between two watering systems. They work for a few days but then just die for seemingly no reason. Put them on a thermostatic switch to circulate water when it dips to 35 and stop at 40, so these only run at night. Absolutely garbage.

Great pump for a DIY hot water recirculation system
Great little pump - I have a couple in use currently for hot water circulators. I run a line from the furthest hot tap in the house back through this pump, then a check valve, then into the bottom of my hot water tank. A timer runs the pump for a minute or two every 20-30 minutes to keep the water in the line hot, resulting in nearly instant hot water at the taps. They have been running like this, circulating hot water every 20 minutes or so for several years now without a hiccup. Would not hesitate to use again.

Good, but not a long life.
We purchased exactly 2 years ago and it has quit on us. I use it for our chicken waterer and it usually only runs in winter time with a temp sensor or when I plug it in on occasion to circulate their water, so I hoped it would’ve lasted longer.

Works great for my chicken coop waterer
I have a 55 gallon rain barrel that I put a small heater inside so that the water doesn't freeze in the winter. I've attached a washing machine hose from the barrel into a 1" pvc pipe that has nipples on them that my chickens drink from. The problem is on cold days, even with the heater in the barrel, the water in the 1" pvc pipe would freeze. This pump ensures that doesn't happen. I have it plugged into a temperature sensitive outlet. I have it set to turn on at 37F and turn off at 41F. It's constantly pulling the warm water in the barrel into the pipe and back into the barrel to be heated again. We've so far gone down as low as 9F with no issues. Now this is just the first year. Will it still work flawlessly 10 years from now? Let's see.
