With the saw unplugged simply measure from the outside of of the blade toward the tip of the (guide roller) Thin Rip Jig for the width cut you want to make. Once set, secure the Thin Rip Jig simply by rotating the large, easy to grip star shaped knob. After your first cut, reset your stock behind the blade and slide the fence over so your stock piece is touching the guide roller on the Thin Rip Jig. Lock the fence. - Making your thin rip cuts in this fashion allows you to cut wider boards down without getting your fingers in harms way by keep them away from the blade or cutter.The Thin Rip works much like a feather except that it doesn’t exert spring like pressure against the board. Are there any replacement miter slot "runner" for purchase or does one make one?** A: It wouldn't be that difficult to make a new bar from either wood or HDPE (like an old cutting board) **Q: Cannot get my jig to tighten down in the miter slot. Slot is 3/4 by 3/8. Saw is a Kobalt K-1015 jig slides in slot no matter. any ideas?** A: I had this problem and after careful examination of the jig, I determined that the screw on the bottom side of the miter bar was bottoming out before spreading the miter bar sufficiently in the miter groove on my table saw. I was able to easily fix it by adding another washer between the plastic star knob and the upper sliding ruler. Now, it holds the jig firmly and tightly in my Sawstop table saw miter slot. If you decide to try this, just remember to keep the OEM plastic washer lowest in the stack, so it’s the one that contacts the thin-cut slider. It will compress a bit, aiding tightness and will not mar the jig surface. **Q: My Bosch table saw has the miter slot further left than some, how far out does this thin rip extend from the miter slot to saw blade?** A: It will extend over approximately 6", from center of Chanel to roller. I'm using it on a Ridged portable table saw. I think the smallest rip I did was 1/4". From the center of the channel on my saw to the blade is approximately 6 1/2". Hope these numbers help. **Q: What is the distance from the roller tip to the leading edge of the track guide?** A: The adjustment range I get with the "Thin Rip Table Saw Jig" is: 1 5/16" to 5 3/4" As you asked, this is from the leading edge of the Track Guide, to the tip of the Roller Bearing. Just keep in mind that these measurements are taken with the Track Guide out of the miter slot. In my case, this guide fits loosely in the miter slot, before it is tightened down with the knob.
