Zak Tool ZT14 Aluminum Key – Black

Durable cuff key. Easy to get to and fits on my molle vest. Doesn't weigh much and it's more convenient than the regular handcuff key. Highly recommended as a primary key for anyone in the field that use handcuffs on a daily basis.

I'm not sure why some people said this key doesn't work in their cuffs, but it may be that the cuffs are not the "real deal" because this key works just fine in my Peerless cuffs as well as the Smith and Wesson ones without any issues. I bought two of these keys and both work just fine and appear to be well-made. The tip of the key is actually steel, connecting to an aluminum pen-like body. The clip on mine are both a little different than in the picture of the product, (it seems the design was up-dated). The clip in the pic curves in like a pen-clip, but the ones i have curve slightly outward instead. I think this is to prevent the key from snagging on your clothing while you try to pull it out, and I dont think this takes anything away from the key at all, just wanted to include this info in my review since it's a little different than the pic - not a big deal for me. I have had several keys of this style and this is definetly better made that my last one was. The package also includes a warranty to replace the key if it ever breaks or for some reason doesnt wok right for you.

I am a full time police officer and am constently using my handcuffs, but hate the key that you get with a new set. After reading multiple reviews on this product i decided to give them a try. Upon arrival, I could tell the it was of good quality base on the quality of the metal. After almost a full year of use I haven't had a single problem with this key. It fits very single of my handcuffs whether chain or hinged. I has a great quality and the grip on it so amazing, I were mine on the collar of my uniform shirt and even during foot chases it doesn't fall off. I would most certainly recoment this product to any law enforcement officer looking for a great handcuff key!

I've been in the Law Enforcement Background for over 20 years, I have carried the same pairs of Handcuffs throughout all of that time. The Zak Tool ZT14 Handcuff Key Pen works wonderful, I love the sturdy construction. I had just completed my monthly DT Training and found the key to hold up against different restraint training tactics. I also enjoy the grip for the cuff lock pin, which makes locking the cuffs easier than the standard key with lock Pin.

Pros: Cheap price for a solid tool. Works well with the Peerless brand cuffs that I use. Tool makes it so much simpler to remove and/or lock cuffs. I have had no issue with the clip moving or not staying attached like other reviewers. Cons: To be expected but, paint has chipped off in large pieces. Other than that, everything has held up so far.

Exactly what I expected. I use it with Smith&Wesson cuffs without any issues. However, the key is too big for an old pair of low quality no name cuffs that I have. I don’t use them so it’s no big deal I just thought it was a good test for them. I’d say a good rule of thump if your wondering if these will work is to try a standard Smith&Wesson cuff key and if it’s too big for your cuffs, this probably won’t work for you either. The clip is good; stays where it’s supposed to and isn’t a pain to put back. Also, it is lighter than I thought it would be ~0.5 oz by my scale. Overall, I’m liking it, doesn’t feel too thin or like extra bulk.

Absolutely fantastic key. It is hard to compare this to factory keys because they are just horrid and impossible to handle with gloves on. The textured grip on this key, as well as its length makes it a high quality tool and a must have for anyone trying to handle cuffs with gloves on. The key fit when I inserted it into the lock but I could not turn it either direction. I took a power grinder and touched the tip of the handcuff key to it a few times to shorten it up a hair. Took less than 30 sec. Works like a charm now. Lightweight, tactical, and now....functional.
