Great scale with no memory feature
I'm trying to lose weight and I needed a scale to track my progress. I wanted something inexpensive so I originally passed over this scale because of its price. As I read the reviews of cheaper scales I found that many them had a memory feature. Rather then display your weight every time you stepped on it the scales with the memory feature would just record you weight once and show it to you over and over again. Ergo you would never really know if you gained or lost weight. With that in mind I started looking for scales without the memory feature and I landed back on this EatSmart scale. It has no memory feature so it will tell you your weight at the time you're standing on it. I'm pretty sure it's accurate. Here's my anecdotal, non-scientific story. The scale was telling me I weighed about 225lbs. Around the same time I had a doctor's appointment. When I was in the examination room waited for the doctor I decided to use the physician beam scale in the corner to get a more accurate weight of myself. The scale said I weighed 227lbs. I thought, "Great, my scale is 2lbs off". When I got back home I tried the scale again and it said I weighed 227lbs. I was confused but then I remembered that I originally weighed myself naked after I got out of the shower. So I took off my clothes and tried again. It said I was about 225lbs. The scale could detect a two pound weight difference. So that's how I learned that this scale was pretty accurate. Appearance-wise the scale looks nice but will only really look good in a more modernist home. I was worried about the glass holding my weight but its pretty sturdy. After I tried it the first time I never had any worries again. I think there are some other features included with this scale but I don't use them so I can't comment on them. Calibration is super easy. You just step on the scale, let it zero out, and wait for it turn off. That's it. In fact its so easy that you don't even have to leave it out. If you're like me and only weigh yourself once a week you can keep the scale out of sight and when you need to weigh yourself you take it out, calibrate it, weigh in, and put it away. Really would only take about a minute. I highly recommend this scale. I know it's a bit expensive for a scale that is lacking a few features but the fact that it has no memory feature is the most important thing. Don't let the price scare you away.

Accurate, Easy to read, Attractive
The one minor thing I did not like is that once the weight reading stabilizes, it "locks in." Others may find this a plus, but for weighing my pets it is a small nuisance. On my old analog scale I could step on the scale, read my weight, then have someone hand me the pet and read the combined weight (subtract mine to get the pet's weight). With this scale I have to step off the scale, wait for it to blink off, then get back on the scale holding the pet to get our combined weight. As I said, minor. I am not taking away any stars for this, just making a note of it. This was advertised as a highly accurate scale, and my test bears this out. I tested it using known weights (measured using an analytical balance) in the range of 20 to 140 lbs. Absolute error was never greater than 0.1 lb, and the extrapolated error at 180 lb (a typical male body weight) is -0.05 lb. This was estimated by applying a linear least squares fit to the data. The scale is very easy to use. I have not tried all the features, but after inserting the batteries I calibrated it, set up myself as "P1" (person one?) and had my weight, BMI, and maintenance daily calorie intake, in about a minute. For a routine weight measurement, just step on, it auto-activates, blinks a weight reading for a few seconds, and when that stabilizes (stops blinking) you have your weight. The back-lit display has large easy-to-read digits for your weight. If you have set it up for BMI and calories, they are a bit smaller, but still easy to read. My scale's location is well lit, so the back-light may not be necessary, but it also does not detract from the readability. This scale is stylish and attractive. I read one review (external to Amazon) which suggested that some people may be disconcerted by the glass top, as it allows you to see the floor underneath the balance. This is not an issue as far as I'm concerned, but FYI. The glass top is thick and sturdy.

Works Great Once You Get a Good One!
This unit was the top choice of an independent test I read. I like that it's accurate to just 1/10 of a pound vs most of the competing units which only measure in increments of two tenths. Bought one through Amazon and it arrived on time. However, one of the footpads was poorly installed causing the scale to wobble on every flat surface I placed it on. Rather than send it back through Amazon, I contacted the manufacturer because they had a better warranty for lemons. Explained the issue and they shipped a replacement out immediately. Took a bit longer than Amazon's Prime shipping to arrive, but all of the feet on the new unit were properly installed and no more wobble on those hard, flat surfaces anymore. They said they might ask for the original back, but chose not to and asked that I simply throw the old one away. I appreciate the prompt and solid customer service from the manufacturer in fixing my lemon issue, and my wife and I are happy with the performance of the unit after several months of use. I did not install the batteries that came with, using batteries I know and trust instead. My guess for those whose units have issues is that the problem lies in the quality control phase wherever these things are mass produced. Seems pretty simple to QC a product like this to test for both accurate weighing, as well as ensuring all four footpads meet the floor without any wobble. Had to take one star away from my review over this issue, but pleased the company made it right with no hassle whatsoever.

Great Bathroom Scale - Graduation Increments of .1 lbs. / .1kg
Attractive, stylish, easy to use. Wanted a replacement scale that accurately measures in 0.1 pound increments. This scale is perfect. Although it has other features listed below, number 4 and 5 were the important ones for us. Also tested number 6 which works well but was of less interest to us. VERY SATISFIED with this purchase. Note that this is used in a room with 12" square tiles that the scale fits perfectly - results in what appears to be very accurate weights (particularly when compared to the replaced Taylor scale). The floor is Not level but flat, which is most important - all four sensors sit within the confines of the 12" square tile. Hoping this helps someone. Enjoy, dg 1. Measures weight in pounds and kilograms (to 0.1 pounds) 2. BMI calculation indicator 3. Estimates your needed caloric intake. 4. Step-on instant measurement 5. Provides real-time readouts, as soon as you step on the scale. 6. Stores up to 4 users in memory, Allowing you to track individual weights. Automatic user identification technology identifies the user based on past weight measurements for simple recall. 7. 4.3" LCD with cool-blue backlight EatSmart Precision CalPal Digital Bathroom Scale w/ 440 lb. a little heavy but works late
Got this to use in a bathroom where the floors aren't entirely level, so I was concerned it might be hard to get a correct reading and moved it around to lots of different places as a test. To my surprise, it handled the uneven floors with no problem, giving me the right number each time. It's a bit heavy, and has a bunch of features I didn't care about and haven't used, like BMI calculations. But it's quite attractive, easy to read, and accurate overall. An excellent value.

Inconsistent / Instruction manual is incorrect/unhelpful
Really disappointing. Bought this b/c of the Wirecutter review, but this scale is either wildly inconsistent, or the calibration instructions in the instruction manual (AND on the EatSmart website) are incorrect. I know the above sounds crazy, but when I follow the instructions to calibrate—place scale on hard, level floor; press to wake up the scale, let it show "0.0" until it turns off—and then weigh myself, I'm getting numbers +5-10 pounds higher than my expected weight. However, *AFTER* I weigh myself and step off the scale, the scale displays "C" for a few seconds before shutting off. If I then step on the scale again, I get a result much closer to what I am expecting. There is NO MENTION of the "C" display in the instruction manual. I can only assume it means "calibrating," in which case, the calibration instructions are incorrect, as it will not display "C" until after I've stepped on the scale to get a reading. Therefore: - If the "C" does not indicate calibration, then the scale is wildly inconsistent (5-10 lbs). Also, there should be some explanation of what "C" actually means in the instruction manual. - If the "C" *does* indicate calibration, then the instruction manual is incorrect. This doesn't exactly inspire consumer confidence. As an aside (while we're on the topic of things that don't inspire confidence), I tried contacting EatSmart via their webform, and where it says "Purchase Date" I'm unable to select a year beyond 2017. (FYI, I purchased in mid-February 2018) Fun! UPDATE: I did end up contacting EatSmart via their webform, and I received a response fairly quickly. However, it was just a canned response giving me instructions for how to "reset" the scale, and no mention of my concern about what "C" actually means. I get the impression that they didn't pay much attention to the actual content of my message. I'm returning this.

Exceptional product - Save yourself an hour pf pain in selecting the right one, just buy this, you won't regret it.
I went to the "market" to buy a bathroom scale, OMG! There are zillions, so thank goodness for authentic ratings like this one. So, the looks are killer, clear glass with absolutely no slip, trimmed with black and is a smaller footprint than most. The set up is easy and the readout and data is sensible and all you need; Your weight reads out in bright LCD numbers then you get Max calories to sustain that weight as well as the relative BMI reading. Much to my disgust, I was at the far end of "overweight", one click away from being Obese, America's leading fashion debacle these days. For the money, this is an outstanding product, I was overly impressed with the quality and finish, looks modern and represents current day technology and performance. Buy this one, save your self an hour of pain trying to decide.

That was easy!!??
My daughter and son-in-law recommended this scale ... and THEY research EVERYTHING!! So, on their word, we bought it!! It was embarrasingly easy to set up my own and my husband's detes for future checks!! AND, compared to our just-thrown-out scale, THIS scale doesn't change its mind every time you get on to give you a different weight each time you get on!!!?? WHY we ever stepped on the old one after that sort of behavior is beyond me!! THIS scale is a dream!! Of course, I WANT to believe the number!! But, I'm guaranteed to believe it as it maintains the weight it gave me just minutes before!! Maybe not a high bar (measuring it against the demigorgon we threw out!) but it's sleek, cheap and no-nonsense! AND...I am NOT the Head of the Company's daughter, as my husband said my review sounds like!!

Eat Smart Precision CalPal Digtal Bathroom Scale
Very nice scale, great display, good heavy glass platform. Returned, but only because it was damaged by the delivery agent who threw it over a 6ft fence onto concrete. UK Seller was excellent to deal with.

Easy to use!
Overall this is great! Easy to use, good quality and lightweight. Would have got 5 stars on accuracy but we have to step on it twice before it gives the correct weight. As for price, similar product was $10 more at our local store.
