Air King 9155 Window Fan, 16-Inch,White

The first unit I received was missing screws at the 6 o’clock and 8 o’clock positions. After several email exchanges with Air King (a Lasko Family of Products brand), I was informed by Christine that “it is normal for this particular screw not to be included with the unit.” I found this explanation rather surprising. For reference, I have included the contents of her email below: -- Christine (Lasko Family of Products): We truly appreciate your patience while we looked into your request, and we want to provide some clarification regarding the screw you are looking for—a #6 x 5/8". After reviewing your request, we regret to inform you that we are unable to send out the specific part—a #6 x 5/8" screw—as it is not one we carry for direct distribution. This particular part is a standard item that can typically be found at most local hardware stores. We completely understand this may not be the most convenient solution, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may cause. It is normal for this particular screw not to be included with the unit, as it is considered a standard hardware item intended to be purchased separately at local hardware stores. This allows users to select the appropriate fasteners based on their specific installation needs. -- Due to this, I decided to order a second unit. Interestingly, the replacement arrived with all screws properly installed. Unfortunately, the new unit is not as well-balanced as the original. However, this is a minor issue—it does not produce any noise, though it does exhibit some vibration at higher speeds. There was a gap between the window and the fan, which I easily resolved by modifying a pool noodle to fill the space. The window can be easily closed when the fan is not in use. The fan mounted quickly and easily in the window.

Really pulls some air out the place. No issues. I'm a big open window/fresh air guy, to a fault even as I let tons of pollen in but this fan is the best consumer grade window fan you can buy as far as power and air flow goes. It's not overly loud either.

Fan came as described. It has a plastic frame that seemed flimsy but it's okay. It installed in the window w/o any issues but needed longer screws to go through the sheetrock and into the window studs. When installed it worked fine the first day. When I cut it off, a loud noise happened. I found out the nut and washer holding the fan blade onto the fan shaft had spun off, as well as the blade. I had to take the fan out of the window, remove the fan guards and then replace the nut and washer. I used loctite to keep the nut on. This took probably 30-45 minutes to complete. COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED. But I reinstalled it and it is working fine. Not to loud and pulls air throughout the house. Not sure it will last 4 years so I did purchase warranty.

This is an excellent fan that brings cool air into the room at a high velocity - or removes hot air. Can be made permanent with the window closing behind it. Not very nosy compared to portable ac units. Highly recommend.

All installed and running well. The hardest part is using the template given for screw placement as it's paper and flimsy. Fold the template paper once length ways to give it a little rigidity makes it easier to find the hole placement. A thin piece of plastic with the 2 holes would make a much better template than paper. My windows have a lower handle that must clear the back of the fan to close and open the window so if yours do make sure you figure for that before drilling the screw holes. I had to offset the template about 3/4 inch from the window frame. Otherwise the fan preforms great and puts to shame the twin 7" blade window fan it replaces. Where the old fan would barely cool the room this one with 2110 cfm brings the temperature down quickly. Where the 2 blade window fan used 120 watts on high this uses only 90 so it save energy and does a far better job. This was well worth the extra cost and it's made in the USA.

Air King has made some significant improvements to the quality of this fan in this version (9155J) as compared to a previous version that I also own (9155H). The improvements have to do with the motor. The 9155H had an open motor housing (i.e. allowing air to pass into and through the motor), whereas the 9155J has a totally enclosed housing. The totally enclosed housing will keep the motor internals clean allowing it to last much longer. Also the bearings on the 9155H were actually sintered bronze bushings, not ball bearings as was indicated in the documentation. These bushings failed on the fan that I had after only a few years of use during summers, However this was also changed on the 9155J which has shielded ball bearings. I expect that these bearings will last for many years. The bearings are also a common model used for skateboard wheels, so can be replaced if need be in the future. On the negative side, the low speed setting of the 9155J has a higher speed than the 9155H. This makes the 9155J a bit noisy on low speed, whereas the 9155H was almost whisper quiet on low speed, which was nice. Also the components for these fans are still made in China which is always a quality concern. However, overall I think the changes that Air King made to the motor will allow this fan last many, many years without failure.

I ordered 2 of these fans for my garage. I installed one fan in my window and turned it on. While I was installing the other fan this one started making noises and just stopped running. The motor was still going. I uninstalled it and while putting it back in the box I heard rattling in the fan and a washer fell out. I didn't even bother putting the other fan in the window after that. I have boxed them up and returned both of them.

This is my first investment in a good quality window fan and for the first few days, I can say that it works great. Unfortunately the plastic that holds the left extender to the base with a screw is broken, so the fan would tip over if it was extended. It gets really hot so I decided to keep it rather than return it as I can extend the right panel and it would fit my windows size. I have a 50” TV, a PS5, PC, modem, and router all generating heat within my room with no centralized a/c and this fan really gets the hot air out during the day. I used to run a box fan or a small window fan to blow air in or out the window but they were just inefficient and usually broke down quickly.

Negative air pressure ftw. We have it installed in the 3rd floor attic window. All it takes is opening a window on the first floor, on the shady side of the house and the fresh air streams through the entire house. You can literally feel the breeze. It greatly helps cooling and airing the entire three floors. Would totally recommend it.

I have bought this fan 3 times over the past 10 years. Love it. Fits my window perfectly. I 've had it on low Exhaust all day every day even in the winter. Any one that wants to have odor free air in their room needs to try this fan for them selves

This is a real window fan. It's powerful and quiet...unfortunately it was far too large for my window and had to be returned. Air King should really make a 9 inch smaller version of this fan. No other fan comes close to this one...

We have used this fan for several years now and during the hot summer months it is a life saver.
