What does 8 alarms mean? 8 different recordings or 8 occurrences?

8 alarms – means 8 alarm messages. 8 different recordings.

If, for example, you need "Take your pills" reminder a.m. and p.m., 7 days a week.

So you will set 2 recordings, example:
1.	“Hi Mom/Dad, time to take your morning pills. The white ones on the benchtop.”. The frequency would be set to “DAILY” (See Step 6 of “Setting Alarm Time” in the instruction manual).
2.	“Hi Mom/Dad,  time to take your evening pills. The green ones on the benchtop.”. The frequency would be set to “DAILY” (See Step 6 of “Setting Alarm Time” in the instruction manual).

In the above, you have only used up 2 of the alarms and are free to use others, for example:
- Morning Alarm – for weekdays versus Morning Alarm for weekends or 
- an Alarm to remind them of their regular golf lessons.

The options are limitless.

How often does it announce the time?

The short answer is: Every time you press the "Time?" button.

The long answer: There are 3 buttons on the top of the clock:
- "Time?" 
- "Play Messages"
- "OK"

These buttons have been designed deliberately large, of different shapes and colors to help the user. We deliberately designed the clock face to be minimal to avoid confusion and addresses the 2 main questions - What Day is It? and What Time is it?

The "Time?" button will announce the time, day, month, date and year whenever the button is pressed. So if you press the button and then 5 minutes later you would like to be reminded, you can press it again. (The clock will announce the time in whatever language setting you have it in i.e. English USA, Spanish, German etc.).

The "Play Messages" button will scroll through all the set alarm times and voice recordings for those times, if an alarm has been set. This is useful for the user who would like to know what has been set for the day or to hear the beautiful voices of loved ones when feeling isolated or alone.

The "OK" button is used to stop the alarm. Actually the clock has been designed so that any button will stop the alarm but the "OK" button is here solely to stop alarms.

Does each daily alarm eventually turn itself off in case I’m not home?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the alarms will automatically shut off after 30 minutes on loop. The alarm loops to ensure that no important messages (like medication times) are missed.

If you are away from home for an extended period of time like on vacation. Then you can switch the alarms to MUTE mode which means that when the alarm should sound, it will be silent. The screen will still flash but there will be no sound.
