Will this hold a claw prongs for setting stones in?

Not sure what a claw prong is but it will hold the stone while you drill the hole in it for a bail. A bail being the silver or gold jewelry prong that you would run a chain through for pendant necklaces. It will also hold the stone to glue in the bail.

What is the distance between the screw holes on the sides?

To determine the distance from the borehole to the sides depends on the size of what you're Drilling and the size of the drill bit

Is it possible for me to use longer screws than the ones the item comes with? Also, are the screws metric or imperial?

Don't know the question about metric or otherwise. You could use a little longer screws on the outer holes (holding the larger objects). You have about 3/4" clearance.

Almost a 5 star rating.

The reason for a 4 star rating is because it works like its suppose to and that's great but it's not good for the smaller beads I'm not talking about seed beads. It just needs something you can change out when needed. It's good item just fell a little short of being a great item.
