However, the handle actually has splinters and should have been sanded more and a couple coats of varnish to cure the splinters. After filing down the splinters with an emory board, I put several coats of clear fingernail polish over the entire handle, so I hope that helps. But I will need to remember not to put it in the dishwasher. The sharp peeling end is great but there is one small spot of rust on it!! Price total was $16.51 which was new. Hopefully, all these from same manufacturer are not as poorly made. Also, I found a vintage one on eBay and bought it; cost total was $7.49, no shipping or tax. It could have sharper surfaces, but I guess liability rules that out. Those of us that still actually cook already have a superior peeler, a stand alone corer, use a sharp paring knife for carving, and own (what the heck is a ZigZag peeler?) the kitchen tools necessary for which this "multi-tool" was designed.
