I am using this model for a 1/4 wave whip in 70cm band even though the magnet strength is way over kill for an antenna this small. The reason: the size of the metal frame ABOVE the magnet is large enough to be nearly perfect for this band and the VSWR is 1:1 across the band with no "funny business" of rapidly changing VSWR due to a resonance of the mount itself. Also note that in the 2m band you'll want the large one for it's strength AND size that gives you enough capacitance between the bottom of the mount and your car roof to not alter the tuning of the 2m whip on top. I have recently been given the warning that magnetic mounts are hard on the paint of the vehicle because the magnet attracts metal brake dust found out on the roads and this gets between the magnet and the vehicle's paint. OK, I can imagine that it does. I will say that in the case of this Tram mag mount the rubber under the magnet that should prevent this problem..I hope.

I have purchased from this manufacturer before and never been disappointed. Mag mount seems very well made. Holds the antenna securely to my truck.

It's a nice quality product. Approach the roof and at two inches away you can start to feel the magnetic pull get stronger as you get closer, just be ready for that final 'bang' onto the bodywork. Has withstood 65mph with a 145/440 Nagoya NMO-N200A on top.
