can I use double curtain rods

Our brackets currently do not accommodate double curtain rods at this time.

The ad says shipping is $3.75 yet when I check out the shipping has jumped to $20.15. Why is that?

It might be an add-on item and you have to go over $25 dollars for the cheaper shipping.

Do these leave enough room to fully open (perpendicular to the window) the blind slats behind the curtain without touching the curtain?

Yes but just barely. I have a the bracket extended out as far as it goes.

There is a vid showing the bracket sliding on from the front XL ver. the product pics show it sliding down over the top.Is that a different product?

Yes. There's a difference in the style of brackets. The way your blinds are installed and the size determines which brackets you require. The styles include: Outside mount, Inside mount, inside mount XL, inside mount mini. Please refer to our buyer's guide located in the images of each listings. We also added a video to this answer. Thank you, TNNBC
