When the iPhone series charges 50%, it will automatically reduce the current to protect the battery. Samsung series will charge slowly when it reaches 70-80%. **Q: If you turn the power off does the outside cover display light stay lit or does it also turn off?** A: Device defaults off. Both the power source and then the device's power button must be turned on to use it. The voltage display only occurs when the power is on. Device can be turned off by removing power source or pressing the device's power button. **Q: During night in my rv, i want to have the led light off while charging my phone, is there any way or other product can achieve this?** A: For this device, sadly your answer is no! When this is powered off the charging / monitoring system is also off! This was possibly done so as to not present "a load" to the battery... I haven't looked but if I were looking for a device to charge with the LED off. I would read the descriptions to see if one of the many manufacturers built into the on/off switch "logic"; a "power on" (charging available) with "LED off" setting. I'll bet "that manufacturer" would get the bulk of that markets sales. All of this said, you could drop you baseball cap (possibly employing on of those adhesive hooks) over the device so the LED isn't lighting up your RV.
