Plastic is shatterproof, therefore the blender has more power. Blenders with glass pitchers typically have less power and are not as efficient. **Q: How does this compare to the NutriBullet 900?** A: I know this is an old question but hopefully it can help new customers- I’m sorry but I have to disagree with the only other person who answered this question ...I’ve had the Nutribullet 900 for 2 years now- I’ve never used ice- I freeze my bananas and use that as the “ice” for my smoothies - the bullet pulverizes kale and spinach with no problem- I put a clove of garlic in there cause I’m a health freak- kills it- my smoothies turn green and super smooth... I finally made the same smoothie with this Ninja 610- here’s what I’ll say.. the ninja sucked at making a green smoothie ( even with no ice!!) my smoothie was still white with a million little green particles floating around that I had to chew. Gonna keep it anyway because the bullet is too small to blend soups and sauces and this will do the trick and everyone needs a big blender in their kitchen...bottom line-this is good for bulk- but get the much smaller bullet if you want anything smooth in your smoothies - I have both so I’m spoiled 😜 **Q: Can it handle vegetables like spinach, celery and cucumber?** A: Ninja can handle all vegetables, that is the fiber from the skin in each vegetable. It’s fantastic. Super easy to use after a time or two of practice, and really easy to clean. I’ve found with other blenders that they have way too many buttons and shenanigans going on that are unnecessary. This one does the job and does it well, very straightforward. It literally takes 30 seconds for me to blend my protein shakes. I like the recipe booklet it comes with, I’ve made a couple great smoothies from it. It is a bit loud but I mean… it’s a blender often chopping up frozen solid ingredients at warp speed, so… The price is very reasonable for what you get. If you’re on the fence about getting it, I say go for it! PS: I recommend getting some sort of 16-20oz cup and large/long straws. & be mindful of how much you put in the blender. I ended up making WAY too much my first few batches & had to freeze a bunch of leftovers. Try out the recipes in the booklet first if you want to practice.
