Collagen Plus Hydration, Unflavored, 0.465 kg, P36751

I like how this product contains 2 types of bovine collagen peptides. Other ingredients include Vitamin D, coconut water powder & a natural mineral that comes from algae. This product is a great in smoothies. It’s unflavored so it’s affect of most liquids is neutral. This product adds protein to your drink of choice without unnecessary calories. It’s made in the USA with domestic & international ingredients. What bothers me is this is the only time I’ve had a collagen supplement have a warning on the label that says: “This product can expose you to chemicals including lead which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm…” This is very concerning to say the least.

Is very good just little strong smell

I take collagen every day for joint support and I see visible improvement in my nails, so I hope it's helping my bones and joints too. I mix it in my coffee every morning and add to smoothies. This collagen powder is bovine types I & II, 11g per scoop (10g protein), the scoop is about 2 tablespoons. It also has coconut water powder and a proprietary ingredient called Aquamin that's made from marine algae and I assume it provides some minerals, it doesn't really say. The unflavored powder is fine and yellowish and has a slight odor in the can, not bad. I dipped my finger in the powder and tasted it (that's the only way to really tell if it has a taste) and it basically had no taste and no weird mouth feel so I added half a scoop to my hot coffee and it dissolved easily and didn't affect the flavor of the coffee. There are approximately 30 scoops in the can. I think it's probably a good product but it's a little expensive for bovine collagen.

While I love that it is unflavored, which means I can hypothetically mix it with almost anything, there's definitely a very strong unpleasant salty/collagen flavor to it, so I prefer to add it to something flavored rather than plain water. My favorite mixers are cranberry juice and unsweetened oat milk. It dissolves well in hot liquids, but the directions say to mix it with cold liquids, so I'm not sure if heat damages the therapeutic benefits. Using cold liquids requires some shaking or blending though. It's fairly expensive but seems to be working well. I'm also really pleased that it contains coconut water powder for some extra electrolytes. However I only gave it 4 stars because the product description title says it contains Vitamin C (which helps your body produce its own collagen) when the package label does not show any Vitamin C, only Vitamin D. The other reason for 4 stars is that it has a California P65 warning on the label saying it may "expose you to chemicals including lead" which is worrying.

Evogen makes good quality workout supplements and I like their natural lineup of products which is free from artificial flavors, colors, and sweeteners. This Evogen Collagen Plus Hydration product is a unique addition to the lineup and provides a high quality grass-fed collagen along with coconut water powder, Aquamin algae, and some vitamin D. The Aquamin helps provide trace minerals and the coconut water contains electrolytes and enzymes. It is unflavored and mixes very easily. The value is only okay since you can get collagen powder more affordably on its own, but if you're looking for something that will also be beneficial for rehydration, this is a quality product.
