This is a USB Headset you can plug it in to a microphone like a blue yeti it does have a 3.5 mm jack i am not sure if the mic will work without the usb box on the cable

Yes. You'd have to use the USB to get the surround sound. The surround sound device that allows you to turn it on and off is attached directly to the USB cord.
