I keep a stash of coffee beans to deodorize empty coolers, refrigerator, new plastic storage tubs, etc. & they are reusable! **Q: I tried to repopulate kernels that didn’t pop in batch and burned the bottom of the container. Will this affect performance’** A: (Directions say you can pop the unpopped kernels. I tried it and not one of them popped.) I have also burned a batch in the past. I would say that while the performance will not be affected, the burned container will affect the taste. The only complaint is that the brown spot on the bottom (from using too much oil) had grown a touch, but it hasn't affected the flavor and definitely still seems safe to use.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Yeah so I like popcorn a lot. Like a lot. This bowl has saved me so so much money since I bought it 6 months ago. Kernels are so much cheaper than the instant bags, and the air popper can let you make healthier popcorn or flavor it your own way. This air popper has two different fill lines, for one serving and for two. If you fill it to the two serving line, it'll pop the lid up so that it just rests on the mountain of popcorn teeming out of the bowl.When I bought this, POPCO sent me an emailed pdf with literally hundreds of popcorn recipes. However I've found my favorites to be either avocado oil and sea salt or olive oil, sea salt, rosemary, and lemon.The only issue with this is that it can be difficult to clean if you are an avid hand-washer. It comes clean in the dishwasher though, and I've put both the lid and the bowl on the top shelf regularly. I use this basically everyday (I told you I really like popcorn) and it hasn't shown any signs of wear other than some brown parts on the bottom when I used too much olive oil.All in all, what an amazing buy. If you're looking for a way out of junk food, this is such a power move.Pro tip: look up oils and their smoke point before using this. If you use oils with a higher smoke point (like avocado) your popcorn will be less likely to be burnt and you'll avoid the brown spot I got in the bottom of mine when I used olive oil. The popcorn is puffy and tastes great. I add two teaspoons margarine (maximum, according to the manual) and 1/4 teaspoon salt with the popcorn before microwaving and it’s ready to eat as soon as you take it out. No extra bowls or extra work after popping. I haven’t had any burning issues to the silicone that the manual warns you about, but I mix the margarine in the popcorn a bit first, and then I watch and listen to make sure to not overcook. I believe that because I add the margarine, I am getting unpopped kernels despite what other reviewers say. But since I can use the name brand bulk popcorn and the popping spreads the margarine automatically, losing a penny’s worth of popcorn is not a concern.I am sure that this popcorn is significantly healthier than microwave bag popcorn due to much less fat and salt, but it’s under your control and you could even go further by substituting canola oil for some or all of the margarine (I do).The popper is easy to clean and it flattens out to take less room in your cupboard, so that’s great too. I think this item is somewhat high priced even on sale, but I use it 2-3 times a week so I’m getting good use of the money. With this silcon bowl my 10 yr old son can make popcorn whenever he wants with no worries about a gas stove, hot oil, or messy clean up.
