## Description

This Kerick PT050525 float valve is a tank-mount style and is made of PVC with 18-8 stainless steel hardware. The valve has a 0.25" orifice and its estimated rate of flow is 7.7 gallons per minute (gpm) at 20 pounds per square inch (psi) and 12.5 gpm at 60 psi. The valve inlet and outlet have 1/2" NPT male threads and the inlet has extended threads with a sealing washer and jam nut for mounting through a tank wall. The valve is made of National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approved PVC (polyvinyl chloride), its replaceable seals are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) for durability and chemical resistance, and its hardware is made of 18-8 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The valve uses a 3" or 6" x 1/4" stainless steel rod and a 6" float ball (sold separately). This float valve is suitable for use in a variety of applications, such as fountains, livestock water tanks, and chemical manufacturing plants.Float valves use a rod and float ball attached to a valve shutoff lever to control flow in or out of a tank. The float ball rises or falls with the level of liquid in the tank, changing the angle of the valve shutoff lever. When the angle of the valve lever changes sufficiently, the valve opens or closes. Review: Purchased for our automatic livestock waterers after a constant battle with the brass ones for a few years. You'd think the brass would be better, right? Not so much. They develop buildup much faster and prevent the valve from shutting off completely... which is a bummer in the summer but an absolute nightmare in the winter. We're still waiting to see how long the plastic ones hold up but unless they fail pretty soon I recommend these over the brass any day... plus, cheaper? Too good to be true.

Purchased for our automatic livestock waterers after a constant battle with the brass ones for a few years. You'd think the brass would be better, right? Not so much. They develop buildup much faster and prevent the valve from shutting off completely... which is a bummer in the summer but an absolute nightmare in the winter. We're still waiting to see how long the plastic ones hold up but unless they fail pretty soon I recommend these over the brass any day... plus, cheaper? Too good to be true.
