During his two terms in office, Reagan kept a daily diary in which he recorded, by hand, his innermost thoughts and observations on the extraordinary, the historic, and the routine day-to-day occurrences of his presidency. Now, this remarkable histor Review: Leather Collector's Item - Getting Close to Reagan - I am a bit biased since I feel he was the greatest president of my lifetime, and I feel more that way as time goes on and we see the sometimes embarrassing, and sometimes disgraceful professional politicians that have held, and in my opinion, currently hold the office of the presidency (i.e., the America-bashing, socialist, and very likely marxist, "Barack Hussein Obama"). This volume brings us closer to the day to day thinking, courage, conviction, and humanism of one of American greatest presidents, a freedom-loving, true conservative. His original, personal diaries were also leather bound (which influenced me a bit), now compiled here into a single special leather-bound edition. I love the end papers that contain reprints of his hand-written words. While you can get it cheaper (non-leather), if you can afford it (especially in this economy), this is really something special and of impeccable quality. I bought 3 when it was first released, gave one as a gift, and kept the others for my sons later in life. The leather bound book, and leather slip-case will come "sealed" in shink-wrap, and also encased in a larger, sturdy card-board box. If you're a collector, you may think twice about opening it, since a sealed copy might be more valuable someday, but this was meant to be read, and reside as a special item on your bookshelf - so I did. It's fun to check the dates of historical events during his presidency, then go to that day in the life of Reagan to see what he was thinking, or read what he was thinking prior to a key decision or speech. Yes, this version is expensive but worth it if your fortunate enough to afford it. Otherwise, the non-leather copies will have everything there as well - so if you're a fan, you can go buy what works for you. Kind Regards, and God Bless America.

Looks smart, feels great, enjoyable read :)
I didn't imagine it would be as thick as it is, so was pleasantry surprised. Looks very nice and well made, (hardback with bold silver font on front and side) came with the cover shown in photo but I think it looks smarter without. The writing is very clean and easy to read and I love the photo choice and captions along with them. Ronald Reagan did a great job of keeping a diary for his 8 years of presidency and Douglas Brinkley did a great job of editing and creating this book.
