This is an amazing product. I am an avid player of monster ...
This is an amazing product. I am an avid player of monster Hunter and I cannot tell you how many times I have been frustrated by grinding for a freaking Rathalos plate or a Lagiacrus plate or even a Rathalos Ruby. The worst is the Diablos and his stupid majestic horn. All I need is that one stupid item to complete an armor set and I cannot tell you how frustrated it makes me by not getting it once through either capture or killing it 47 TIMES IN A ROW. Anyways, the actual thing is very different but very straightforward to using. You plug in the game into the cartridge holder and it comes with the cable but I was told not to use that cable. If you have another micro USB cable around, use that instead because apparently the cable it comes with is garbage. Anyways you're going to also need to download the program from the website, and as far as I can tell, my computer has not picked up any viruses from it. Once you open the program and plug in the game to your computer, it's gonna ask you what sort of things you're going to want. As a monster Hunter player, you'll see that It gives you money codes, resource points, the choice from some of the best G ranked equipment in the game, and it will have a section where you can supply the first 20 slots in your item box up to 99. If you scroll down a little bit further it'll also ask you for the first six items lots what kind of specific items you want, and everything goes. Everything from account items like easy pitfall traps and first aid meds to Uragaan rubies and Majestic horns. I am very sure it works with other games like Pokémon and all that as well, but bare in mind you must have the physical copy in order to use this product. If you only have a digital copy, it's not gonna work because it needs the actual cartridge in order for it to work.

Must-have for Animal Crossing completionists
I spent more than 500 hours building up my Animal Crossing town totally legit. I got plenty of rare DLC, but there are still so many unorderable items in the game it's irritating for someone who wants a complete catalog, and of course the rarest ones are the nicest for your house. If you are dying for these rare items to complete your catalog like I was, this is totally worth the $16. For ACNL in particular, it's hard to do because you only have 5 slots for items at a time: 1 is items, 2 is headgear/footgear, 3 is clothing, 4 is flooring and 5 is wallpaper. So if you want 50 rare items, you're gonna have to plug in the game, add it, load your game on your ds, get the items out of the slots, then save and do it all over again. It's tedious, but you only have to do it once. And if you have friends who want the items like you, it's nice because you can just save a copy of your game, give them your items, then reload the old copy, and all your items are back. There are tons of other 3DS games you can use this for as well, Pokemon is the major one, but there are tons of others. I bought mine in particular for ACNL, but I might give it a shot on other games. I saw several complaints about the cheap macro usb hardware, but it hasn't caused me any problems yet. Luckily macro usb isn't too hard to find (not as common as micro unfortunately) but if yours isn't working, you can just order another cord (or you might have an extra laying around your house somewhere). All in all, great hardware and software (the package includes instructions on where to download the software from, what games it supports, etc).

Solutions to common problems (and why I'm not satisfied)
The two most common problems reviewers have had is either connection for the hardware through the cable and recognition of cartridges. The solution to the first is simple, while the other is... less so. In order to maintain a steady connection between the hardware and the computer, discard the mini-USB included with the PowerSave and purchase one from another seller. The mini-USB included has poor connection and is the cause of the "hardware not found" messages as well as the flashing between connected and disconnected. The second issue, which is why I am hoping to receive a refund, is the "insert cartridge" option remaining after a cartridge has been placed in the port. The CodeJunkies (creator of PowerSave and its predecessors) website has a list of all games supported by the device. It includes several popular titles and I specifically purchased this for my copy of Pokemon X, which is included on the list of supported games. Regardless of what I did to clean the contacts of both the game and the PowerSave hardware, it would keep the "insert your game cartridge" message. Several YouTube videos contained help for the problem. The simplest solution was removing the dashes in your license key for the device. Other solutions included cleaning the contacts with alcohol or saliva (not recommended, this will degrade the contacts over time.) I had contact cleaner on hand and used this. No progress was made. Ultimately I began discovering issues with X and PowerSaves, which date back to 2014. Apparently Pokemon X and Y use a NAND saving mechanism that prevents the cartridge from being accessed outside of a 3DS. I have not been able to personally test if this is true, as Pokemon X is my only game specifically for 3DS. If this is the case, the CodeJunkies website has had incorrect information in their list of supported games for at least one year. I'm hoping that in the future Datel and/or CodeJunkies will release an update that makes the product usable for the games that it claims to be be compatible with. I'm hoping to borrow a friend's cartridges for other games to see if it will actually work with any other popular titles at this point. I will update the review if anything is discovered. OTHER ASPECTS: When I received the entire item, it was package in a bubble wrap envelope with the packaging from the stock photo inside. It was dented around the plastic right above the product name "Action Replay PowerSaves PRO" and at the bottom of the clear segment. The cardboard on the back also had slight folds as if it had possibly been bent over something before, but nothing major. Everything was sealed and appeared to be absolutely new in spite of the cosmetic imperfections in the packaging. The license key that was included worked and did not give me the error message that others have received. Both the USB cable and the input for the cartridge were in new condition and both were immediately recognized after the software was installed. My only problem is what was stated above: the product will not recognize Pokemon X. Again, updates will be made regarding if I can get the product to recognize other cartridges and if this is a universal problem or if it's just this game.

Simple and Great - All you need to know.
It works differently than the old action replays, but in my opinion, this version is better. Basically, there's a device that plugs into the USB of your laptop... this device allows you to pop in a game. The instructions are included, but to sum it up, you have to go to their website and download the software (which is safe for those who are paranoid) and once you have it installed (It only took me a minute), you open it and begin. Once you plug in the game, the codes for that specific game are brought up on the screen. I bought this for use with Pokemon X and Y, as well as Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I was pretty happy with the codes available for both. There are tons of codes, specifically for Pokemon X and Y and they occasionally add new ones. If you're afraid of your game getting corrupted, I don't think you should be. Whenever you go to load a new cheat code, it saves a backup of your game. There was once instance that it froze for Pokemon for whatever reason... I got on the game and it looked fine, but decided to restore the backup anyway. No worries! It's very safe. (I'm a huge fan of the backup feature). PLEASE NOTE, HOWEVER, THAT THIS ONLY WORKS FOR GAMES YOU HAVE PHYSICAL COPY OF! If you downloaded a game from the 3DS's digital shop, you cannot use this! I happen to own 3 AC:NLs and I can only use it for the two that are physical copies! Not a problem for me, but it's worth noting!

EDIT: Now supports USB 3.0 apparently (READ)
EDIT 01/19/2016: My powersaves now seems to work on my laptop. This is the exact same powersaves device and mini USB cable that I bought/used years ago when I first wrote this review so nothing has changed. Still using the same laptop I mentioned in my original review that has 4 USB 3.0 ports as well. I'm assuming Datel updated their powersaves program between now and then and now it supports USB 3.0. I can't guarantee this though. If you go to Datel's customer support site for powersaves, which I can't link here because Amazon removes any links that direct you away from their site, you will see they have a FAQ for powersaves. One of the questions in that FAQ states "Is the 3DS Power Saves USB 3.0 compatible?". Datel responded to that question by saying: "The 3DS Action Replay Power Saves Pro GamePort hardware was developed for use with standard USB 2 ports. Compatibility with USB 3.0 ports cannot be guaranteed." So take my edited post with a grain of salt. Just because it is now working for me, doesn't mean it is fully compatible with USB 3.0. Just thought I'd give an update to my situation from years ago when I first wrote this for anyone who happens to stumble across this review. ORIGINAL POST: Just as the title explains, I got my PowerSaves a couple days ago, and lord behold, it didn't work. As a veteran purchaser of Datel products, this did not surprise me in the least bit, as their products and customer service are generally not known for having great quality. I still wanted to figure out what was wrong however, so that my $20 did not go to waste. I tried various solutions such as, switching out the cabel that came with PowerSaves with the one from my PS3, rubbing alcohol/licking the back of the game cartridge where the silver plating stuff is, blowing in as many holes as I could find, etc. What turned out, at least I hope what turned out, to be my problem is that from what I've personally experienced, and seen online, Action Replay PowerSaves Pro for the Nintendo 3DS does not seem to currently support USB 3.0 ports. In a nutshell, it's outdated technology basically. My gaming laptop that I use for college came equipped with 4 3.0 USB ports, so I'm SOL (so outta luck) at the moment. Luckily, I'll be home for Winter Break starting tomorrow, and at home I have a really old desktop that still has USB 2.0 ports so I'll try it then and then update this review and let you guys know if that actually was the problem for me. EDIT - I was right. I came home and tried using it on my old desktop that I mentioned I own in the above paragraph and it's working perfectly. I didn't receive a faulty Powersaves. It really is just not compatible with USB 3.0 ports. So for those of you who have such a severe case of ADHD that you somehow weren't able to read my review title, or this very brief review, here's a tl;dr tl;dr - POWERSAVES IS CURRENTLY INCOMPATIBLE WITH USB 3.0 PORTS. THIS MIGHT BE THE REASON WHY YOUR POWERSAVES ISN'T WORKING.

Amazing product! Amazing company!
There is so much to love about Datel and their products. I personally, love their Power saves products! I had the Action Replay Power Saves Pro back in 2015, and it was amazing! I couldn't tell you how time and cost effective the Power Save Pro has been for me. So the Power Save itself comes in a nice plastic case, that keeps the Power Save firmly placed. You get the Power Save, a USB cord, along with a slip that's details on how to get set up. The website is very easy to use, and easy to follow - Which made the process quick and easy to get set up. Pros: - Downloads for a vast majority of 3DS games (as well as newer games, as the Power Save is constantly being updated) - Save backups (incase something were to go wrong, and you need to reverse a download) - Quick setup, and easy to follow directions - The product is secured nicely in the plastic shell case. Cons: Honestly, I can only think of one. Trying to recover a lost account can be difficult, as I have gone through it twice. If you lose the yellow card with the details on it, it will be tricky to get back into your account. Overall: I genuinely love this product. It may be lazy of me to use it for games I don't feel like 100% completing, I still have fun and thoroughly enjoy it. 10/10

Excelente producto.
Compra recomendable.

Just Amazing. Hope it gets cheats for new games too...
It is as amazing as it says. Just do your thing and get whatever you want in your 3DS games. Works amazingly with Pokemon games. Needs a stable internet connection to work and you need to back up every time (enable auto-backup) because your game save might get corrupted. But as soon as the backup is restored the game is back to normal again as it was when you backed it up.

I Recommend This
I bought two and they both work great. These were actually replacements for the one I bought 3 or so years ago which is still working but the cord is exposed now due to lots of use. This product is a good buy to get the cheats you need in a game. They also add more codes over time and you can suggest ones that you want which they may or may not add.
