Hi, i have a hexbeam antenna for hf. it weighs about 9kg/ over 25 pounds. will this rotator work for my antenna?

I contacted Voxx International (known as Audiovox until 2012), the licensee of the RCA trade name for consumer electronics products, and they told me the VH226E antenna rotator will support antennas up to 75 pounds in weight.

Question 2

What is the Max weight of the array this rotator will turn? How much wind load is permissable?

Accepted Answer

The Motor and Gear of VH226F can survive max torque 300 lb. inch at the vertical loading position (rotator turning), and  max torque 210 lb. inch at the horizontal position (wind blowing).

Does this rotator have steel thrust bearings and a disk brake similar to the channel master cm9521a?

The RCA unit doesn't have a break.    Also, the top clamps to hold the mast are cheap.  (They don't hold the mast from turning.)    I drilled through the clamp and mast pole to install a bolt.
Still in high wides, 25-30 MPH the antenna still rotates.    VHF/UHF 110" antenna

What size maximum  diameter  mast will this mount on?

The drive unit is designed for 1.25" diameter mast, but will accommodate up to a 2" diameter support mast. Note:The manual states to use no more than 3 feet of antenna mast between the rotor and the antenna itself to reduce wind and weight load. The unit is built very well and seems to work well with a 6 ft. 1.50" aluminum mast in my installation with a 2 meter beam and vertical antenna installed on it!
