Can't you just mix white and black gesso? Don't really want to spend the extra money....

Save yourself the time and frustration of trying to get just the right color. It will save you money in the end, because you will not waste your black and white.

Depends on how thick or many coats you put on...no more than 15 to 30 min.

Using white, grey or black gesso as a base before you apply paint gives you both a surface and a base colour for developint something special.
