We used these for my mom's legs and found they worked best. **Q: Obviously, these are purchased to cover a wound with fears of infection looming greatly--the open box sight is a NO!--Why no box top?** A: Yuck! No, I wouldn't use them. Send them back. I ordered these for my husband to use after he had abdominal hernia surgery and they were perfect. They were in a sealed box or sealed in plastic.
