One of the most beloved and trusted mindfulness teachers in America offers a lifeline for difficult times: the RAIN meditation, which awakens our courage and heart Tara Brach is an in-the-trenches teacher whose work counters today's ever-increasing onslaught of news, conflict, demands, and anxieties--stresses that leave us rushing around on auto-pilot and cut off from the presence and creativity that give our lives meaning. In this heartfelt and deeply practical book, she offers an antidote: an easy-to-learn four-step meditation that quickly loosens the grip of difficult emotions and limiting beliefs. Each step in the meditation practice ( R ecognize, A llow, I nvestigate, N urture) is brought to life by memorable stories shared by Tara and her students as they deal with feelings of overwhelm, loss, and self-aversion, with painful relationships, and past trauma--and as they discover step-by-step the sources of love, forgiveness, compassion, and deep wisdom alive within all of us. A PENGUIN LIFE TITLE Review: Practical tools to help you find your own compassion - I've purchased this book in multiple forms because it is a treasured resource for my anxiety. I'd gone through a long battle with low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, and the joy in my life seemed impossible to access. I was struggling to understand what was going on inside me as everything seemed just....gray. Tara's soothing and reasoned approach was just what I needed to chip away at the wall I'd built around my own pain. Her "RAIN" technique is challenging to put into practice, but a brilliant tool to finally reach glimpses of self-compassion and self-love. I'd strongly recommend getting both the audiobook and the paperback (or Kindle) version, because hearing her voice walk you through the exercises and case studies is very powerful, but you'll also want to sit down and work through the recommended exercises. If you struggle with a lack of self-compassion, I'd strongly recommend giving her book a try. Review: A Healing Journey - Why have we lost compassion for ourselves? Radical Compassion by Tara Brach teaches us how to use the RAIN method to control our emotions. Sadly, many of those emotions leave us powerless. This book provides the reader with a whole new way of recognizing our limiting beliefs. Many of these beliefs arise from early childhood experiences of fear and wounding. Radical Compassion offers this simple method for moving beyond those limitations to find compassion in our hearts: R-Recognize What Is Happening A-Allow Life to be Just As It Is I-Investigate with a Gentle, Curious Attention N-Nurture with Loving Presence. Tara Brach teaches us how to step away from our negative beliefs about ourselves and others. That allows us to experience a positive transformation through her RAIN exercises. What I enjoyed most about the book, beyond the method, was the stories she shared of those she has mentored. This simple method of sharing these transformations teaches us that: Our culture continually tries to define us as good/bad, right/wrong, or superior/inferior. Those judgments invoke shame in how we feel about ourselves. That shame affects how we treat each other. It influences how much we earn, what we consume, and the shape of our body. In addition, it exerts influence on how we express creativity and our spiritual or religious beliefs. Throughout the book, the author leads us on a path to integration and resilience as we reach the "Nurture" step of RAIN. Readers can find healing in her words. "No matter how trapped you've been in emotions like fear or shame, strengthening your inner resources can help change your brain, heal your heart, and evolve your consciousness." If you long for attention, safety, acceptance, connection, understanding, and love, you owe it to yourself to explore the RAIN method. Our brains are constantly evolving. As a result, we each have a capacity for mindful thinking and compassion in how we view others. Use the exercises in Radical Compassion to see yourself and others more clearly to cultivate a more forgiving heart. Allow her to guide you so you can live your true potential.

How to Find Your Peace
There are books that help us find an intellectual understanding of the what’s, why’s and how’s of life experiences and perspectives. But then there are books/people that bring us to a depth and breadth of understanding that goes deep into the fundamental feelings of our life’s experiences (and traumas). This is the latter and I found it to be beyond just therapeutic. This is a powerful, deep, personal and incredibly vulnerable and valuable guide to finding the peace and light that exists in each of us. She will never read or know me or this review, but I am beyond thankful for Tara and the time she has taken to write her books, to share her stories - and her own vulnerability - as she helps us find our way, to our own place in the sun. Thank you, Tara 🙏

A brilliant book for the times we live in
I love Tara Brach and this book was amazing. I became more deeply aware of how to deepen self compassion and saw ways that surprised me where I am cut off from others. This is a book filled with stories that touched my heart and helped to drive home the material that she is presenting. It's "hands on" with exercises and different ways to apply her RAIN process to take the book's content into the body where it can be fully lived. There's so much in this book that applies to the times we are in right now. How sensitive people can offer compassion without becoming overwhelmed and the immediate need for all of us to embody compassion. I highly recommend it.

As someone who is passionate about personal growth and self-improvement, I cannot recommend Tara Brach's book "Radical Compassion: Learning to Love Yourself and Your World with the Practice of RAIN" highly enough. This book has been an absolute game-changer for me, providing insights, tools, and techniques that have made a lasting impact on my life. The central concept of the book is the RAIN practice, an acronym for Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture. This transformative mindfulness technique has played a pivotal role in my personal growth and self-awareness journey, enabling me to better understand my emotions and thought patterns while cultivating a compassionate and loving attitude towards myself and others. What makes "Radical Compassion" stand out is Brach's ability to explain complex ideas in a relatable and accessible manner. She seamlessly weaves in stories, anecdotes, and real-life examples that make the RAIN practice easy to understand and apply in everyday life. The book is infused with warmth and wisdom, making it an enjoyable and impactful read.
