how does this keep them cool? is it just the plastic sheet itself /

There is a gel inside that somehow stays cool. I put it in the car when we take our golden with us it helps him stay cooler then he would be without it. He sleeps on it all the time. He use to go in our bathroom to lay on the cool tile floor at night but now he sleeps next to the bed. My dog is 15yrs old and he has a hard time in the heat and this has helped him a lot.

Has anyone's cat punture it with their nails leaving out over night?

I don’t have a cat. But, Mister Bentleys nails can get long. He’s a chewer as well. It’s Bentley proof and that’s saying a lot😂 I even use it. We take it with us and I love that it’s easy to clean and it resets itself within minutes. He’s went potty on it😮tried to chew it up and it’s still the same as the day we got it😁 We’ve been through something’s. During the puppy stages 🥰 I think it’s pretty tough. Pad is less than one year old, but has become very wrinkled. Still works. Any suggestions?

Same here. I even bought directly from the company where the medium pad was $50. Put it away for the winter. When I took it out I couldn't believe the wrinkles! My husband commented that it actually looks like the air was sucked out which wrinkled the plastic. And while I agree, it does still cool, that simply can't be comfortably. Would have expected more than a year out of a product of that cost.

I bought the L one for my 28 kg Amstaff but I am very disappointed since it DOES NOT WORK IN HOT CLIMATES like Brazil. Any help?

I put mine in the freezer for 20 mins - 1 hour and that cools it down.
