Hilarious, Relatable, and Perfect for Reluctant Readers
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a laugh-out-loud graphic novel-style book that captures the awkwardness of middle school through the eyes of Greg Heffley, a sarcastic, self-centered (yet oddly lovable) kid who just wants to be popular. Jeff Kinney absolutely nails the mix of humor, cringeworthy moments, and the ups and downs of growing up. The handwritten font and cartoon-style illustrations make it feel like a real kid’s journal, which is especially appealing to younger readers—even those who don’t usually love reading. It's a great gateway book for reluctant readers around ages 8–12. The humor is clever but accessible, and while Greg isn’t always the best role model, his misadventures offer plenty of teachable moments. this diary of a wimpy kid book is very good for collecting, reading, and so much more!! And make sure you don't get the cheese touch! Good for grades 3-7.
