I bought a 2017 27" iMac on day 1. This computer has Thunderbolt 3. I bought this drive (6 TB TB3 model) to start replacing my LaCie drives from 2009. The old LaCie drives (2big USB 2 and d2 USB 3) were still going strong but I figured they're over 8 years old and they've served their purpose. With my good experience with LaCie I decided to go with them again. LaCie quotes the speed to reach 220 MB/s using the included Thunderbolt 3 cable and Thunderbolt 3 port on my drive/iMac. Using Blackmagic test, I got 210 MB/s peak. Speeds were under what LaCie claims but not enough to make me regret the purchase. (I believe Seagate's website claims the drive in my d2 can only do 210 MB/s so I'm not sure why LaCie added an additional 10 MB/S to their claim.) The drive enclosure seems to wick heat away from the drive nicely. I'm using the drive as an encrypted Time Machine backup. The encryption process for a drive this size took ~5 days. During this time, the drive was at 100% usage yet the enclosure only was warm (not hot) and the fan remained silent. The bottom of the drive has a great rubber strip to absorb vibration and noise. It works great! Unfortunately, the Thunderbolt 3 cable can only reach lengths of 1.5 feet at 40 GB/s. You'll have to keep the drive close to the computer. (There are TB3 cables longer than 1.5 feet that claim they can handle 40GB/s but this seems to go outside the official standard. This isn't an issue caused by LaCie but a limitation of any TB3 product that isn't commonly shared. I also like the 5 year warranty and enterprise grade drives in use. Overall, this is a great drive after 1 month of usage.

I am using this to replace multiple lower capacity (2-4TB) WD MyBooks. This thing is smaller than I expected, and so fast with the USB C. It came with both USB-C to USB-C as well as USB-C to USB A SuperSpeed. Love the light that shows power and activity, once you eject, it flashes a bunch of times and then powers down when safe to unplug. I am using this to backup lots of data, so will not be using it plugged in all the time, but if I was I might put a piece of translucent/frosted vinyl to reduce the LED brightness in a dark room.

É caro como qualquer capacidade de armazenamento que você tentar comprar. Mas vale quanto pesa. É rápido e funciona bem em Macs, não tem nem que formatar. Eu tinha um WD de 4TB antes, mas além de ter de formatar, depois de algum tempo começou a ficar ejetando aleatóriamente, pensei que era um problema do Mac OS, mas não era. De tanto ejetar, ficou danificado e tive que formatar e perdi todos os dados armazenados. Mesmo assim, não funcionou. Aí, depois de pesquisar muito, decidi comprar esse HD da LaCie e até aqui tem funcionado muito bem, muito rápido e estável. Se você trabalha com Macintosh, compre dessa marca. É plug&play, não precisa fazer nenhuma configuração e funciona muito bem.
