Yes you can. Gets a little messy with thick pieces like 1/2" etc but will still do it.

Manual comes in box, it's very vague. You have to some set up On your own. What videos on you tube there better than the manual..

What consumables do you recommend?

You can buy some consumable kits from a similar brand that will work. Honestly just look for the identical in apearance other chinese brands. They sell boxes of just consumables
