Love this iron!
I primarily use an iron for sewing and quilting so use lots of steam. This iron produces perfect steam and heat for setting seams and getting rid of wrinkles. It is lightweight, glides easily on the fabric and is a delight to use. It does seem to leak occasionally when I add water, but that may just be my technique. Would highly recommend this iron.

The good & the not-so-good
After spending $150.00 on a Rowenta less than a year ago that simply stopped working, I decided to try a Black & Decker for about 1/3 less. It doesn't have all the features of the Rowenta, but if it lasts only a year, I can live with that. As far as the good is concerned, the iron heats up rapidly and produces a goodly amount of steam - does a good job of pressing my shirts. The water port is tiny - you need a steady hand - but the tank holds quite a bit of water. If you hold the iron up to the light just so, you might be able to find the water level inside the darkened red tank - a dark tinted tank may be good good for pretty, but it's short on common sense - you can't see the water inside!. The other way to tell if the tank is full is when the water runs out the port. The biggest issue I had was with the cord. First of all, it could stand to be a foot or two longer. Secondly, the cord has a ball joint type of swivel at the point where it enters the iron at its base. The problem with that set-up is that when you place the iron back on the ironing board, the cord remains in the down position. So, when you try to set the iron on its base, the cord is always in the way. And, if you aren't paying attention, the iron tips over. A little piece of tape fixed that problem. Even if it lasts only a year, I'm still $115.00 better off.

Light weight but performs great
This has been easy to use. Light weight enough to not be difficult in using but does a great job. I like the auto turnoff as a safety feature. It stays on long enough for me to set up next article to iron. No issues at all.

Smoothly glides over your clothes
I agree with other reviewers that the water level is hard to see. I also find it awkward to fill the reservoir. I was surprised that there was no container to help fill the reservoir. However, the iron makes up for these issues by cutting my ironing time in half. It glides over the clothes and the wrinkles disappear. I even ironed some cotton blouses that my last iron left wrinkled and these wrinkles disappeared as well.

stopped heating after less than 20 uses
i have always liked the black & decker brand, and was so excited when i used this iron for the first time. it was easy to fill, lightweight, & had the right temperatures for the garments i was pressing. i didn't like that the higher temperatures could only be selected with steam, but that was not a huge issue. my satisfaction continued until it stopped heating up 2 weeks after the return window closed. i do not iron every day, & sometimes go a whole week without having to iron anything. maybe if i did iron every day, i would have found out before the return window closed & saved the $3 return charge for the plug. on the upside, though, i will get another iron that works for at least 2 yrs - the length of the warranty. i will update this review, if possible, in a few weeks, after i receive the replacement & have used it at least 20 times. tip: register this iron by calling black & decker 1.800.231.9786, instead of using the unsecure website on the box. update 25 january 2020: i have been using this iron for a while now. overall, it is a fair iron. so, i've upgraded my review from 2 stars to 3 stars. pros: fills easily; lightweight; correct temperature; heats to selected temperature in about a minute; reheats after auto shut-off in a little over 30 seconds. tip: you have to put the iron in the ironing position - soleplate down - to reheat it after auto shut-off. cons: water line is hard to see through the red tint; steam is dramatically reduced when water level is 5/8 or below - it is almost non-existent at that level, but, on the plus side, i use that as an indication that i need to add water, since it's hard to see the water level; intemittent leaking.

Not the best iron I ever used
Iโm keeping this iron because l had to have an iron NOW but am wondering what has happened to irons because my old Sunbeam was way over ten years old when it died and has none of these problems. Here is what I am finding in this one (and the first one I bought, and returned, was no better) PROS: Good for light weight fabrics The new style pointed nose works well CONS: Not hot enough for canvas or denim You canโt see water level (even with a flash lite) Canโt maintain heat (loses heat when setting up) so wait to reheat. Too much steam causing it to constantly need water (and they asked it be turned off and unplugged to refill.

It's an Iron!
My Iron was still running after 20 years, but the electric cord within the unit was loose, making it dangerous. So I was surprised to see all the Irons and prices. This Black & Decker had good reviews, and I must say Irons have advanced. I do not have to use the Steam feature for most of my clothing to get a good press. The sharp point allows me to get into tight places easily. It is also lighter than my previous iron. I do appreciate the upright steam feature as well. The one minus which many mention is it is very difficult to read the amount of water in the tank. The hub of the cord on the bottom was stiff at the beginning making it difficult to lay the iron upright, but it has softened up. All-in-all a good little workhouse for one of our most monotonous but necessary home tasks.

Heats up rapidly and produces a massive, wrinkle-destroying burst of steam
This iron glides beautifully over fabric and makes pressing clothes a breeze. The digital interface is very intuitive, and it heats up to the selected temperature remarkably fast. The steam burst is highly powerful, completely flattening stubborn wrinkles in heavy cotton shirts. The auto shut-off feature is also a great safety addition for peace of mind.
