While smoothing it down with your hands *works,* using a brayer works better overall because it presses the material into the adhesive without stretching it and distorting the grain. Have used it several times so far and have been very happy with it :) It's a nice weight to hold in your hand, it feels solid, but it's not "heavy" which was important for me. It rolls smoothly without hiccups or bumps and overall, does exactly what it's supposed to! The tweezers were more of a bonus for me, but I was also pleasantly surprised that they actually met precisely, felt sturdy and had plenty of grippable surface.
