This alarm works perfectly at detecting water. A few caveats: As people mentioned, the pairing and Wi-Fi setup steps are missing from provided setup instructions, however, within minutes I located a short YouTube video that quickly filled in the blanks, and once you do this, it takes a few minutes to connect. Second caveat is that the provided alarm is very quiet. Your smartphone has louder ring options. So, you really need to rely upon the iPhone notification alerts to have a clue that it is going off, unless you are sleeping right next to your sump pump or wherever. I rigged mine to hang into a basement drain with the sensor on cord. Works. My sump failed, and I would never have known since I don’t go into basement daily and check, and dehumidifier regularly drains to this pump. I got a notification on iPhone from the Flo app while away from home, and checked sump upon return to determine sump had failed, but water was still in drain, so no overflow. I caught it early enough to minimize cleanup. It’s just a little, relatively cheap device, but it works.

I like that I ocassionaly get loss of signal alarms as it usually means my router needs a reboot as other devices are down too.The audible alarm is loud enough but not overpowering

It was to be fully plugged in for it to work correctly. This works fantastically. I’ve accidentally dropped water on it and it automatically shut my water off. Then I have to go on the app and bypass it for 6 hours which is enough time for it to dry. I removed one from the water heater in the garage because it was having false alarms all the time and I figured it’s the high humidity levels in the garage that trigger it. I know it’s the humidity because it only happens when I leave the garage door open and humidity goes up or when it’s a very humid day.

After reading good reviews of this product ordered a box of three. The instructions, received upon arrival said "download associated app before unpacking" . Went to Google playstore. App "not available in your region". Huh? Tried using another device. Same. Went to company website. Very unhelpful, and trying to find email contact almost impossible. After 30 mins tracked one down. Fired off email. 24 hours later no reply. Resorted to social media. At last a response: "Android App only available in US and Canada". Well what a waste of time that was. Product therefore almost useless and returned. Luckily the seller was superb and understanding and refund easily obtained. So don't buy if you want the product to work with the android app!!
