When you unscrew the flange below the handle, don't try to unscrew it or pull it; you have to YANK the rope to get the two to separate. Also, don't be an idiot like me: I can't find ANY company that sells replacement leather ropes, so before you cut, make sure you haven't cut too much! Having said all that, it's a really nice jump rope. I am 5' 8" and have it trimmed so that the exposed leather rope is 86".. or.. a bit over 7 feet. The bad news is the metal collar which is apparently the adjustment point throws the balance off. I've tried it on either side. I am right handed. For some reason I have better luck with the collar on my left side. Got suckered again. I think there is meant to be an adjustable clamp inside one of the handles, but I was only able to remove the metal cap on one handle only and the clamp on that side was not adjustable.Despite the hassle of adjustment, I am really loving this jump rope.
